POSITION SUMMARY

The Birth Tissue Recovery Program Manager must be dedicated to supporting the mission of the DNWest. The Birth Tissue Program Manager is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of DNWest’s Birth Tissue program. This includes overseeing the screening, acquisition, and shipping of donated birth tissues, as well as ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and cultivating partnerships with healthcare facilities, providers, and birth tissue processors.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Management:

    • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the birth tissue program.
    • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure program efficiency and compliance with all applicable regulations.
    • Coordinate with hospital staff and other healthcare providers for birth tissue acquisition.

Birth Tissue Coordination

    • Coordinate with healthcare providers, particularly in labor and delivery units, to identify eligible birth tissue donors.
    • Organize and manage the logistics of Birth tissue acquisition, ensuring timely and efficient collection following birth.
    • Obtain informed consent from donors for the acquisition of birth tissues, explain the process and potential uses of the tissues.
    • Perform a donor risk assessment interview with donor mothers for screening to ensure eligibility based on medical history and other criteria.

Quality Control and Compliance

    • Ensure that all birth tissue collection and processing procedures comply with FDA, AATB, and other relevant regulatory body standards.
    • Implement quality control processes to maintain the integrity and safety of tissues.
    • Stay updated on regulatory changes and adjust program protocols accordingly.

Relationship Management

    • Build and maintain partnerships with hospitals, birth centers, and other potential birth tissue sources.
    • Collaborate with DNWest support departments to ensure effective and efficient communication and processes.
    • Be the primary liaison with DNWest’s birth tissue processing partners.
    • Conduct outreach and education programs about the benefits of birth tissue donation.
    • Work with family aftercare to provide follow up to donor mothers.

Team Leadership

    • Lead and mentor a team of technicians and support staff.
    • Conduct performance reviews and provide training and development opportunities for team members.

Data Management and Reporting

    • Work with Tissue Operations leadership to monitor and analyze program data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and potential growth opportunities.
    • Prepare regular reports on program activities, compliance, and outcome for senior leadership.

QUALIFICATIONS

    • Preferred Certification: Certified Tissue Bank Specialist (CTBS) certification.
    • Strong knowledge of FDA and AATB Standards related to tissue banking.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences or equivalent education/work experience.
    • Minimum 5 years of experience in a clinical, biotechnology, or regenerative medicine environment.
    • Preferred - Minimum 2 years in a supervisory role.
    • Preferred - Experience working in Birth Tissue Donation
$108,700 - $141,200 a year
