Based in Southern California with locations in Malibu, Calabasas, Westlake Village and Camarillo; HRL has been on the leading edge of technology, conducting pioneering research and advancing the state of the art. 

General Description: 
Layout engineer with experience in custom physical design or layout work. Primary responsibility is to support semiconductor fabrication/process developments for cutting edge technologies (Quantum/III-V/miscellaneous). Need to interface with multi-disciplinary teams to efficiently and intelligently draft and assemble design blocks that are later patterned on wafers processed in our world class research and semiconductor fabrication facility. Responsibility also includes support and/or development of basic Process Design Kit (PDK) for low maturity technologies with evolving fabrication flow - thus semiconductor processing knowledge is a plus.

Essential Duties:
Custom semiconductor CAD layout and reticle assembly work 
Conduct reviews at different phases as necessary
Work with multiple groups to understand various design and wafer fabrication aspects to complete layout work successfully
Release layout and order photolithography mask plates
Create/edit codes for DRC and automation purposes
Interface with IT support group for EDA software maintenance and updates
Good documentation practices
Communicate and co-ordinate well both within group and with external groups

Required Skills: 
2-3 years minimum in physical design work in semiconductor industry
Advanced proficiency in at least one of these layout tools: Cadence/Klayout/AWR/ similar EDA software
Experience with creating/editing DRC rules with tools like Calibre, Assura
Good communication skills (both verbal and written) with customer service focus
Experience in both Windows and Linux environment 
Ability to stay focused for detail oriented work

Required Education: 
Bachelor’s degree with a major in EE or related science/engineering field.

Special Requirements:
U.S. Citizenship is required.
Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance. Active SSBI is highly desired.

Compensation:
The base salary range for this full-time position is $99,705 - $124,683 + bonus + benefits.
