Based in Southern California with locations in Malibu, Calabasas and Camarillo; HRL has been on the leading edge of technology, conducting pioneering research and advancing the state of the art. 

We are looking for a senior level systems administrator experienced in Windows and Linux environments with knowledge of VMware virtualization, system backup best practices, and NetApp storage arrays.

Work directly with programs to ensure Information Technology infrastructure solutions meet the program requirements and schedules
Performs a multi-disciplined range of technical systems and application activities
Installs, configures, and maintains multiplatform systems hardware, software, and components
Administer and manage Windows and Linux systems in the operations, engineering, analysis, and test environments
Administer a hybrid Microsoft 365 and on-premises environment.
Maintains Windows Systems comprised of servers and workstations. Administer installation of software, hardware, file system management, backups, process control, user administration, and device management
Responsible for resolving a wide variety of complex system failures, troubleshooting software, hardware, and network problems
Install, configure, and maintain Microsoft Active Directory domains and forests
Perform system and user account maintenance
Test and assess security configuration of Windows and Linux servers
Monitor, evaluate, and optimize system performance
Analyze, test and implement security patches and hardening
Develop and promote standard operating procedures and conduct routine hardware and software audits of servers to ensure compliance with established standards, policies, and configuration guidelines.
Participate in internal/external security audits/inspections

7+ years experience with in performing system administration tasks on Windows and Linux hosts including installing security patches and making configuration changes to support security requirements
7+ years experience integrating hardware and software components into a functional system
7+ years experience computing administration to include managing Microsoft active directory design, deploy and operational support
5+ years Linux systems administration
5+ years experience working with Virtualized Systems (i.e. VMWare) design and implementation
5+ years experience architecting, designing, and implementing a DevOps infrastructure for a program
Experience maintaining and operating a Citrix Virtual Desktop Infrastructure
Experience with systems management and automation software (Endpoint Configuration Manager, Satellite, Ansible)
Experience with High Performance Computing (HPC) applications and frameworks
Strong understanding of standardized Network Protocols and Services (i.e. TCP/IP, VLAN, DNS, DHCP, Firewalls, etc.)
Strong understanding of Group Policy management
Experience with scripting for task automation (PowerShell, Batch, BASH)
Strong understanding of Public Key Cryptography (PKI)
Microsoft 365 administration
Exchange 2013/2016 server management
Network monitoring & alerting (Nagios)
Experience with RedHat/CentOS 7, and 8 cluster environments
Experience managing (Ubuntu 16.04, 18.04, 20.04) and Red Hat workstations (7, 8)
Experience administering Kickstart and Ansible
Administration of NetApp filers (ONTAP 9.x)
Experience with shell scripting (BASH, TCSH, and KSH)
Experience with web servers and WAFs
Basic understanding of LDAP and SAML
Experience with GitHub or GitLab administration
Experience with Veritas NetBackup and Veeam

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline with 7+ years of related experience in a network/system administration related support role.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential. Must be able to multitask in a dynamic environment; develop solutions to various complex problems and plan, schedule and prioritize tasks.

Responsibilities sometimes require working evenings and weekends, and in some cases with little to no advance notice.
