GENERAL DESCRIPTION: 
The position requires a hands-on, detail oriented individual with responsibilities that include purchasing materials, equipment and services in support of internal customers R&D projects and external customer orders in a very fast-paced environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: 
Member of the procurement organization in the establishment and administration of purchase orders for R&D and manufacturing program materials and services.  Specifically understand the R&D environment related to contracting and its differences from a production environment.
Research, prepare and issue purchase orders, follow up on orders placed, verify and/or expedite delivery, resolve problems with vendors, and maintain all necessary records and documentation.
Maintain positive vendor relations.
Interface with various internal departments such as Quality, Technical, Trade Compliance and Finance in a timely and professional manner.
Assist the Procurement Manager with various projects and reports including data gathering and analysis.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: 
College degree preferred and mandatory 5+ years of in-house purchasing background or similar experience in a role that requires direct interaction with vendors, internal stakeholder departments, and in-house Legal.
Ability to negotiate business terms, including but not limited to price, quantity and delivery terms for many various goods, raw materials and services.
Experience with Government purchases, including but not limited to understanding FAR/DFARS regulations, audit requirements, documentation gathering and import/export requirements.
Experience purchasing capital equipment and the ability to work with internal requestors to determine various factors, including but not limited to acceptance criteria, warranty, maintenance, Incoterms, spares and training requirements.
Professional ability to communicate well with both internal and external customers in a diplomatic manner and build relationships.
 
PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS: 
Must have the ability to sit for long periods of time and be able to access all locations of the company property. 
Position requires office in-person attendance.
Must be able to communicate effectively and professionally with people and have a focus on customer service for internal customers.

EDUCATION DESIRED:
College degree with Business emphasis.
