Based in Southern California with locations in Malibu, Calabasas and Camarillo; HRL has been on the leading edge of technology, conducting pioneering research and advancing the state of the art.
Lead engineering activities related to maturation and system insertion of high-frequency RF GaN foundry technologies into defense applications. Supervise engineering staff to improve reliability, performance, yield, and cost of leading-edge foundry technology within a high-mix low-volume manufacturing environment. Work closely with circuit designers, system designers, and customers to understand system requirements, define qualification requirements, and troubleshoot issues. Clearly report on maturation activities to customers. Must be able to work well in a cross-functional team and possess excellent communication skills.
10+ years’ experience with RF/microwave engineering and semiconductor device physics within compound semiconductors. A proven track record of taking RF transistor technologies from research and development to manufacturing, qualification, and system insertion is highly desired. Hands-on experience with microfabrication and with leading engineering staff in developing semiconductor processes is required. Experience leading teams through complex problem solving and decision-making is required. Prior experience in successful New Product Introduction (NPI) qualification for semiconductor manufacturing is desired.
In-depth knowledge of semiconductor device physics, device engineering, and fabrication techniques is required. Practical and theoretical understanding of RF GaN device and circuit technologies is required. Knowledge of RF device technology maturation and qualification is required. Knowledge of defense-specific applications and system insertion for RF, proposal writing and program management, and knowledge of RF circuit modeling are desirable.
PhD in electrical engineering, materials science, physics, or equivalent.

Able to pursue difficult technical subjects independently, design experiments, analyze data, and provide solutions. Able to produce technical presentations and reports, and communicate effectively with colleagues and customers. Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Able to work within a semiconductor cleanroom environment.
U.S. citizenship status required. Security clearance or ability to obtain a security clearance is preferred.
The base salary range for this full-time position is $158,400 - $198,000 + bonus + benefits.
