Based in Southern California with locations in Malibu, Calabasas and Camarillo; HRL has been on the leading edge of technology, conducting pioneering research and advancing the state of the art.
Our team designs leading edge prototype systems validating HRL’s many innovative research concepts. Achieving unmatched performance in these highly complex, high-frequency systems requires a fundamental understanding of the signal properties as information travels through different environments and along various interconnect materials. We are seeking individuals with a strong foundation in electrical engineering keen on applying those skills to the field of signal integrity. The position offers great opportunity to learn by working closely with leading experts in the field.
Essential Duties:
Analyze signal integrity (SI) and electromagnetic (EM) effects of high frequency (>1 GHz), high dynamic range (>80 dB) mixed signal systems.
Perform studies of electronic systems to support design trade-offs between the integrated circuit, chip-level package, interposer, etc.
Model and incorporate non-idealities into simulations for improving predictive accuracy and optimizing design.
Perform power delivery network (PDN) simulations to verify design stability over operation.
Present details of work to colleagues during design reviews.
Provide written and oral summaries of work performed as needed (e.g. for reports).
Required Skills:
Experience with CAD / simulation tools to support design and analysis (e.g. HFSS, CST Studio, Sonnet, ADS, HSPICE, SI-Wave, Sigrity).
Familiarity with high frequency measurement techniques (VNA, TDR) for characterizing various interconnect features such as insertion loss, return loss, impedance, and crosstalk is a plus.
Familiarity with packaging technology (e.g. ceramic and laminate chip-level packages, printed circuit boards, interposers, etc.) is a plus.
Knowledge of fundamental electrical engineering and circuit design principles.
Use of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and proficiency in writing for reporting.
Physical Requirements:
Proficiency in use of computers, engineering work stations, oral and written communication and willingness to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Ability to work well in a team and independently.
Must be sufficiently mobile to work within confined spaces and have both visual and hearing acuity.
Required Education:
BS, MS or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering.
Special Requirements:
U.S. citizenship is required. Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance. Active SSBI is a plus.
Compensation:
The base salary range for this full-time position is $73,000 - $120,000 + bonus + benefits.
Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range during the hiring process. Please note that the compensation details listed reflect the base salary only, and do not include potential bonus or benefits.
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "U.S. Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. "U.S. Person" includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
HRL offers a very competitive compensation and benefits package. Our Regular/Full Time benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401K match, gym facilities, PTO, growth potential, and an exciting and challenging work environment.
