General Description: 
HRL Laboratories seeks an experienced Quality Engineer to join the HRL Quality team to support HRL’s ISO 9001 and AS9100 quality management systems and compliance for the Microfabrication Technology Laboratory (MTL).  This individual reports to a Quality Supervisor and will provide expertise and guidance to HRL personnel in interpreting requirements and implementing policies and procedures.  

Essential Duties:
Provide quality assurance support to maintain HRL Laboratories’ ISO 9001 and AS9100 certifications for the Microfabrication Technology Laboratory (MTL).  MTL provides engineering, prototyping, and production services for semiconductor and microfabrication technologies within ISO Class 4-5/Fed Std-209E Class 10-100 cleanrooms for a wide range of customers.  Flexibility and creativity in the approach to compliance is key to supporting MTL’s high value research-focused mission.
Ensure the integrity of the HRL quality management systems;
Support continuous improvement opportunities;
Generate and maintain procedures and work instructions;
Participate in Change Control Boards (CCBs) and ensure change control policies are adhered to and change documentation maintained;
Support quality requirements for transition of products from research to production;
Perform problem solving (i.e. 5-Why, 8D, Fishbone) and assist with corrective actions;
Perform internal audits and participate in external (3rd party) audits;
Participates in nonconforming material control and disposition processes;
Supports production tool and metrology statistical process control (SPC);
Support implementation and roll-out of an electronic Quality Management System.

Required Skills: 
Experience working within a formal Quality Management System, such as ISO 9001, AS9100.
Experience facilitating problem solving and root cause analysis (i.e. 5-Why, 8D, Fishbone).
Experience working in a cleanroom environment.
Technical writing, presentation, and communication skills.
Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, 365).
Formal Auditor/Lead Auditor training/certification preferred.
Experience with Lean Six Sigma and related process improvement tools preferred.
Knowledge of semiconductor process technology preferred.

Required Education: 
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Physical Sciences, or related field of study and 3-5 years of related experience.

Physical Requirements: 
Must be able to work safely in laboratory settings including Class 10 cleanroom facilities, wearing personal protective equipment.  Good verbal, written, and motor skills appropriate for the tasks and to work with a cross section of personnel.

Special Requirements:
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "U.S. Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. "U.S. Person" includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
This position will be required to work physically onsite at the Malibu location.

Compensation:
The base salary range for this full-time position is $82,400 - $103,053 + bonus + benefits.
