Based in Southern California with locations in Malibu, Calabasas, Westlake Village and Camarillo; HRL has been on the leading edge of technology, conducting pioneering research and advancing the state of the art. 

Essential Duties:
Drive the development of research software in a fast-paced environment.  Identify and communicate problems and issues to a diverse technical audience, and aid in planning and executing solutions that balance short-term progress with long-term needs.  Collaborate with team members and maintain an inclusive work environment. 

Required Skills:
Demonstrated experience in a research environment involving experimental physics, engineering, or a related field.  Experience can be shown through a publication record, a history of contribution to open-source software projects, or similar project history.
Demonstrated ability to develop, create, and deploy software tools in a research environment. 
Experience with software engineering practices such as version control and continuous integration.
Solid understanding of core computer science fundamentals including data structures, algorithms, and computer architectures.
Ability and desire to work in a collaborative, team-based environment that integrates computer science, data science, physics, and engineering. 

Required Education:
Expected experience of BA/BS +  6 years of industry experience,  MS + 4 years of industry experience, or doctoral degree. Candidates with different experience levels may be considered for other positions.

Physical Requirements:
Must be able to work safely in a laboratory environment, and be on-site at least 4 days a week.   

Special Requirements:
US Citizenship. Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Security Clearance.

Compensation:
The base salary range for this full-time position is $132,765 - $165,983 + bonus + benefits.
