About the RoleThe Director of Finance is responsible for owning the finance function within our growing company. This covers financial planning, analysis, reporting, accounting, budgeting, and leading our finance team. You will report to the COO. This is a hybrid role at our office in Mountain View.
What You Will Do
- Lead, manage, and develop our global finance team across 2 offices in Silicon Valley and Tokyo
- Oversee all finance operations to ensure compliance with local laws, regulations, and reporting standards
- Collaborate with legal and compliance consultants to assess and mitigate financial risks.
- Partner with other senior leaders to create a budgeting framework and strategy to manage our rapidly expanding organization
- Manage and optimize the company's financial systems and tools, including Google Apps, Freee, Xero, Expensify, and our parent company's internal systems.
- Identify opportunities for system enhancements, automation, and integration to streamline financial processes and improve efficiency.
- Build the right level of controls to manage risks while maintaining organizational flexibility
- Travel between our US and Japan offices as needed. Estimated to be once per quarter.
What We Are Looking For
- 10+ years of experience in accounting and finance, at least 3 years leading finance teams
- You have worked in or led global finance teams and understand how to align across them
- Finance or accounting degree, advanced degree (MS or MBA) a plus, CPA a plus
- Experience building finance operations in smaller (<200 person) organizations
- You can partner with different teams to understand their needs, build finance strategies with other leaders, and effectively execute plans within your team.
- Excellent communication skills and experience working in multicultural environments.
- A flexible attitude and entrepreneurial mindset. Be willing to do what it takes, even if it's outside of your usual responsibility area.
Nice to Have
- Experience in change management related to acquisitions
- Experience at both small and large organizations
- Business level Japanese language is nice-to-have, but not a requirement for this position. You will manage bilingual employees.
$200,000 - $248,000 a year
This is the position's total compensation package including the company's bonus structure. This position also comes with full benefits. Actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to demonstrated skill set, years and depth of relevant experience, and some role-dependent factors. We welcome direct conversations with each candidate about compensation in all of our initial calls.
