Gender identity is the personal sense of one's own gender. Gender identity can correlate with assigned sex at birth or can differ from it. Non-binary is a spectrum of gender identities that are not exclusively masculine or feminine—identities that are outside the gender binary. Cisgender refers to someone whose sense of personal identity and gender corresponds with their sex assigned at birth. Transgender refers to people whose identity differs from the sex they were assigned at birth. Agender refers to people whose sense of personal identity does not correspond with any gender or sex.
