Job Description
As we scale, we're seeking a highly motivated Royalty Accountant to help us manage the financial heartbeat of our business — royalties and cash flow.

The Royalty Accountant will play a critical role in ensuring accurate royalty revenue tracking, optimizing collection efforts, and supporting royalty accounting both internally and to our artist partners. This is a cross-functional role that interfaces with finance, legal, data/tech, and external partners. The ideal candidate is analytical, extremely detail-oriented, and thrives in a high-growth, fast-paced environment. This role will work closely with Duetti’s Head of Finance and Assistant Controller.

You Will:

    • Track, reconcile, and record incoming royalty statements and payments from DSPs, publishers, labels, and PROs
    • Review and audit royalty reports to ensure accuracy and completeness
    • Maintain up-to-date catalog and rights ownership data in royalty systems
    • Assist in month-end and quarter-end close processes related to royalty revenue recognition
    • Work with external administrators and partners to resolve discrepancies or delays
    • Monitor accounts receivable and proactively follow up on outstanding payments
    • Build and maintain collection tracking reports and dashboards
    • Collaborate with finance and business affairs teams to ensure deal terms are properly reflected in collection expectations
    • Analyze trends in cash collections vs forecast and flag issues as they arise
    • Support investor reporting and cash flow modeling with real-time collections data
    • Assist in onboarding new catalogs and ingestion of historical royalty data
    • Support system improvements and automation initiatives

Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Music Business, or a related field required
    • 2-5 years of experience in royalty accounting, music finance, collections, or audit
    • Experience with music royalties (publishing, master, neighboring rights, etc.)
    • Advanced Excel / Google Sheets skills; experience with accounting software (Quickbooks, NetSuite, etc.); experience with royalty systems (e.g., Vistex, Counterpoint, Curve, Synchtank) a plus
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with internal and external stakeholders
    • Self-starter mindset with a bias toward execution and accountability
    • Experience operating in vague, early-stage business environments with the self-drive to push projects forward
    • Knowledge of the music industry and a passion for innovation within the sector
