WHO WE ARE
Durin builds and operates automated drill rigs to accelerate mineral discovery.
Our modern way of life, from smartphones to skyscrapers, starts as ore in the ground. But mines don't simply appear. In fact, the exploration process required to find valuable ore is incredibly long and expensive. This is done by drilling hundreds of surgical holes into the earth to recover cylindrical core samples.
Mining is a trillion-dollar industry, but the drills used to explore haven't changed in nearly 100 years. Mines are becoming harder to find, which is a danger to the future of civilization. RUNNING THE RIG
As a driller at Durin, you will run surface core drilling operations, manage crews, and ensure efficient sampling. You'll work closely with engineers, using your field expertise to test and improve autonomous drilling systems. This is a hands-on role with a direct impact on both operations and product development.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Run diamond core drilling operations, managing crews, and ensuring efficient and accurate sampling.
- Get to build alongside the best engineers, explorers, and geologists in the world.
- Oversee drilling projects with the potential to build and grow your own team over time.
- Monitor rig performance, identify challenges, and collaborate with engineering teams to implement practical solutions.
- Maintain high safety standards, productivity, and adherence to operational procedures in the field.
- Contribute to field testing of new drilling technologies, validating performance, and offering actionable input for improvements.
- Keep detailed records of drilling activities, performance metrics, and equipment issues to guide engineering updates.
- Be the key player in informing technological development and production of future rigs.
WHO YOU ARE
- Extensive experience in diamond core drilling or similar precision drilling operations.
- Proven leadership and team management skills in field environments.
- Ability to identify operational challenges and communicate them effectively to engineering teams.
- Strong understanding of drilling systems, including hydraulics, fluid circulation, and rig mechanics.
- Comfortable working in rugged, remote environments while prioritizing safety and efficiency.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with engineers and technical teams.
- Flexible and driven to adapt in fast-paced, high-iteration development settings.
- Enjoy collaborating in a fast-paced environment with rapid iteration cycles.

$30 - $50 an hour
COMPENSATION
This role pays $30–$50 per hour as a contractor. We value expertise and will ensure everyone on our team is compensated fairly for their critical contributions to our ambitious goals.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
• Willing to travel and work on-site at field locations
• Able to work extended hours and weekends when needed
