THE ROLE:
We are seeking a Sr. Consumer Insights Manager to serve as the company’s strategic research leader and a key driver of customer-centric decision making. You will oversee all aspects of consumer research and insights, ensuring that the voice of the customer guides decisions across acquisition campaigns, service innovation, retention programs, pricing strategies, and brand positioning. The ideal candidate brings experience in consumer services and subscription models, with a passion for translating data and research into stories that inspire action.
While this is an individual contributor position, you will act as a thought partner to senior leadership, ensuring the consumer voice is represented at the highest levels of the company. You’ll own insights frameworks, elevate analytics maturity, and connect trends in digital health and pet care to opportunities for growth and innovation.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Lead the Consumer Insights function: Define and drive the research agenda across the subscriber journey — from awareness and consideration to engagement and renewal.
- Understand customer motivations and behaviors: Uncover what attracts new subscribers, what keeps them engaged, and what drives churn, using both attitudinal research and behavioral data.
- Design and execute consumer research: Manage primary research initiatives including surveys, segmentation studies, focus groups, ethnography, and brand health tracking.
- Champion the customer voice: Ensure consumer perspectives are embedded in decision-making for marketing campaigns, product enhancements, customer support experiences, and loyalty programs.
- Collaborate with marketing on positioning, messaging frameworks, and creative testing.
- Partner closely with product teams on concept validation, feature prioritization, and long-term roadmap development.
- Understand our competitive landscape and the tactics / narratives being used to engage with consumers.

- Subscriber growth: Insights that drive growth in core and new niche customer segments.
- Subscriber engagement: Increased active usage and deeper customer involvement with our services.
- Brand health and relevance: Strengthened consumer perception, cultural resonance, and competitive differentiation.
- Impact of consumer insights: Evidence that customer understanding drives brand strategy and product launches.
- Customer retention and loyalty: Demonstrable improvements in churn, renewal, and long-term subscriber value.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
- 8–10 years of experience in consumer insights, market research, or related fields.
- Minimum 2 years of experience with direct to consumer brands required
- Expertise in designing and leading strategic research with demonstrable business impact.
- Strong command of both quantitative analysis (survey design, segmentation, brand tracking) and qualitative methods (ethnography, in-depth interviews, focus groups).
- Exceptional communication and storytelling skills for executive-level audiences.
- Proven ability to connect insights to business strategy in product and marketing contexts.
- Deep expertise in consumer segmentation, brand tracking, and customer journey mapping.
- Experience commissioning and managing external research vendors and agencies.
- Skilled at building business cases and quantifying the impact of insights on revenue, engagement, or retention.
- Prior experience advising senior stakeholders and influencing company strategy.
- Exposure to digital health, pet care, or fast-growth consumer tech environments strongly preferred.
- A strategic operator who’s comfortable being hands-on when needed.
- Collaborative, detail-oriented, and adaptable.
- Pet parent or animal lover (our team includes quite a few!)
