About the role: 
We have a new opportunity for a Manager, Electronics Engineering! In this role, you will lead a team of electrical engineers and designers developing D-Wave’s electronics capabilities to interface with quantum processing units and control high reliability cryogenic systems. This team supports existing products and contributes to next generation products design high speed digital and low noise analog quantum processor interface electronics, cryogenic filters and transmission lines, and high reliability cryogenic control systems. 

What you'll do:

    • Leading the electrical engineering team 
    • Facilitating design and research goals for the engineering team consistent with D-Wave’s overall development roadmap 
    • Planning and facilitating career development for team members 
    • Budgeting electrical development activity 
    • Directly contribute to some electrical engineering design projects 
    • Interfacing with other teams in the organization to develop electrical specifications and goals for multidisciplinary projects 
    • Developing & modifying design and documentation best practices 
    • Interfacing with the operations and service teams coordinating electrical maintenance and upgrades to quantum computing systems 
    • This is not an exhaustive list; we want the candidates to have a rough picture of what the role entails. 

What you’ll bring:

    • Leadership skills with 3 or more years of experience leading a team of engineers  
    • Undergraduate or graduate degree in electrical engineering or engineering physics 
    • High speed digital field programmable gate array experience would be an asset 
    • Low-noise, high frequency analog and mixed signal electronicsdesign experience would be an asset 
    • Microwave design experience would be an asset 
    • High reliability industrial controlsdesign experience would be an asset 
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills  
    • Excellent critical thinking, analysis and problem-solving skills 
    • Strong organizational and decision-making skills 
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment that is focused on priorities and end results 
    • Self-motivated, proactive, flexible and passionate about learning 
    • Creative, can work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team, on a wide variety of problems  
    • Professional registration or eligible to obtain professional registration with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia
