About the role:
We are seeking a talented Application Developer to join our Professional Services team. In this role you will focus on delivering applications for our customers while building upon successful projects to develop industry-leading applications running on D-Wave’s advanced quantum systems.
This position will give you the opportunity to learn about D-Wave’s application environment and work with internal teams and customers to build applications for market launch. This is an exciting opportunity to work with industry-leading customers and cutting-edge quantum computing technology.
What you'll do:
- Develop algorithms to solve complex problems while building applications on the D-Wave quantum computer and internal tools
- Implement and optimize the performance of quantum applications using programming languages, such as Python, and/or applicable optimization tools
- Build out open-source applications to solve complex problems for customers or for market release
- Ensure successful delivery of projects to achieve positive business value for customers
- Collaborate with business stakeholders and other team members to understand application requirements and design customized solutions
- Become an expert on a variety of our professional services offerings such as our cloud service (LEAP) and open-sourced software tools (Ocean)
- Help to solve real world, challenging problems that have a direct impact on our customers business success
What you'll bring:
- 3-5+ years professional experience with Python. Knowledge of Numpy, Pandas, Scikit-learn, and Networkx is an extra bonus!
- Masters, Bachelor's, or equivalent educational experience in Operations Research, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or related technical field preferred
- Experience working directly with customers to identify requirements and consult on solutions to complex business problems
- Strong knowledge of probability, statistics and/or math
- Experience with a version control software such as Git
- Experience implementing complex algorithms
- Experience using leading optimization tools (e.g., CPlex or Gurobi) to solve optimization problems
- Experience building open-source applications to solve complex problems for customers or for market release
- Excellent critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and demonstrated creativity in approaching new problems
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Self-motivated, proactive, flexible, and passionate about writing state-of-the-art code
