Reporting to the Director of Innovation, we’re looking for a Packaging Specialist to partner with multiple internal departments, as well as external vendors, to deliver the ultimate packaging solutions for our products. Our Packaging Specialist will positively impact the business by proposing and implementing best practices for product packaging, case packaging, as well as pallet configurations.
Responsibilities
- Conduct research and development of optimum packaging to better meet customer and consumers needs and wants.
- Responsible for the packaging setup process from initiation to implementation.
- Evaluate and recommend packaging improvements and packaging needs to support new product launches.
- Audit and propose improvements from a manufacturing standpoint (palletization, inner and master cartons, slip sheets, etc.).Review and approve packaging proofs according to regulations, compliances, customer needs, plant requirements, print guidelines, and brand standards. Tracking, maintaining, and clearly communicating versioning for each SKU.
- Work closely with Marketing, Innovation, Operations, Legal, and Responsibility teams to ensure proposed packaging is desirable and aligned on.
- Responsible for documentation related to packaging projects and approvals.
- Research new packaging technologies, alternatives, regulations, and technical specifications.
- Coordinate with external vendors, suppliers, and agencies to ensure adherence and compliance with packaging standards.
Our ideal candidate has
- 2-3 years experience in a similar role
- Strong knowledge in packaging innovation, packaging testing and/or material engineering
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to develop and execute packaging test plans which include material testing, production trials, shelf life protocols, etc.
- Ability to develop processes needed to support packaging-related projects
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management
- CPG experience
