About Easy Agile

Easy Agile is an Australian founded bootstrapped start-up. We have four products built on top of Atlassian’s flagship product Jira, sold via the Atlassian Marketplace. Profitable from year 1, we are on a truly unique journey with an emphasis on work/family/community/self balance, while growing a high-performing team. Due to our extremely fortunate position, we are driven by giving back to our community and our people - enabling our people to live the lives they only dreamed of.

Our HQ is in Wollongong and we have an office in Sydney, but you can find us scattered along the coast anywhere from Brighton to Tweed Heads. We offer flexible working, so you can be based anywhere in Australia! We optimise for collaboration and connection face to face as a team each quarter.

We believe that being agile is a mindset, and that true agility unlocks a team’s potential to be happier at work, have more impact in the solutions they’re building, and be more focused on their customer’s success! That’s why our purpose is to help organisations realise the benefits of being agile. We’re proud to call over 1,900 companies our customers, including Netflix, Harvard, Amazon, Lego, Mercedes and Twitter.

Reporting to our Head of Engineering, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of data infrastructure and services at Easy Agile. You'll lead a talented team of 4 engineers responsible for developing and maintaining our internal data warehouse, while also driving the evolution of how we think about data services supporting our products.

What you’ll do:

    • Lead and grow a team of high-performing engineers. You'll be responsible for the overall performance of the team including hiring, coaching, mentoring, feedback and career development.
    • Drive the creation and delivery of our data strategy and roadmap, enabling Easy Agile to harness the full potential of our data assets.
    • In the absence of a product manager, collaborate with stakeholders across the business to prioritise work and ensure alignment between data engineering initiatives and overall business objectives.
    • Plan, organise and oversee the delivery of the team’s work, including breaking down larger projects into smaller slices, facilitating agile ceremonies and maintaining a well balanced distribution of work.
    • In collaboration with the team, establish engineering, delivery and team health metrics and use them to foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Your day 1 qualities:

    • You’re a seasoned people leader with a number of years experience in senior engineering leadership positions.
    • You’ve successfully led data engineering teams and get genuinely excited about seeing your team succeed and achieve their career goals, enabling them to punch above their weight.
    • You’ve helped build and deliver data strategies in the past and understand the many complex components of managing a modern data stack.
    • You’ve consciously chosen the people management track vs the technical path for your career and are driven by enabling others through your leadership.
    • You’ve worked in cross functional teams and love building relationships across all functions and levels.
    • You have strong stakeholder management capabilities and know how to communicate effectively with internal customers and across the business.
    • You have deep-seated experience with lean principles and agile environments and know how to break work down into smaller delivery pieces to deliver value fast.
    • You understand the value of a strong, balanced and inclusive engineering culture aiming for a sustainable pace.

We’ll be excited if you:

    • Have experience using modern data technologies and tools such as Snowflake, DBT (Data Build Tool), Census, SQL, or similar.
    • Have successfully led a fully remote team and have expertise in maximising collaboration and communication in this environment.

People over perfection
If you are excited about this role but not sure if you meet all of the criteria, please apply. Research shows women and minority groups are less likely to apply for roles where they don't meet 100% of the criteria. We value punching above our weight and people over perfection, so go ahead and apply - we'd love to hear from you.
