Who we are

Eaze is a cannabis delivery platform and marketplace that connects adult consumers with licensed dispensaries and products. Eaze has built a sophisticated logistics and technology platform to provide fast, efficient delivery of a broad variety of cannabis products across California.

We are on a mission to enhance safe access to legal cannabis, educate people about cannabis as a tool for wellness, and drive smart cannabis policies. At Eaze, you will work alongside a world-class team of product managers, designers, and engineers representing a wide range of backgrounds and strengths.

As a Data Scientist at Eaze, you'll work on building models and helping run experiments to improve Eaze’s product, service, and customer experience.

We are working on machine learning solutions that are robust, optimized, scalable, and reliable as we grow our scope and help deliver high performances in every aspect of our business. This is an incredibly high impact role at Eaze’s technology.

What you'll do:

    • Prototype and deploy production data science models in some of the areas at the core of Eaze: forecasting, inventory management, delivery routing, ETA estimation, marketing/product analytics (LTV, recommendation), experimentation etc
    • Work with data engineers to develop end-to-end machine learning pipelines from data exploration, feature engineering, model building, and maintenance
    • Design and implement model validation strategies, such as online test/experiments to demonstrate the impact of machine learning solutions
    • Collaborate cross functionally to share the heuristics of your models or insights and help others utilize them effectively

Who you are:

    • 5+ years of experience or have 2+ years professional working experience
    • Hands-on experiences with SQL, Python (and shell scripting) and being able to demonstrate a high level of proficiency
    • A broad and good understanding of statistics and data science concepts: supervised v. unsupervised learning, hypothesis testing, etc, and when to apply them
    • A knack for looking at business problems through the lens of data and and driving the data-driven decision making process
    • Being able to meet deadlines; juggling multiple projects without losing sight of the team’s priorities
    • Strong communication and organizational skills and a deep desire to learn and explore new technologies and data science methodologies (you are scrappy and curious!).

Bonus if you have (in no particular order):

    • Have deployed machine learning models on AWS (S3/SageMaker/Forecast, etc)
    • Have written unit-tests and logs, and an idea of how to leverage different environments for debugging
    • Experience in logistics, optimization, or bayesian statistics/simulations. You have worked on optimization of physical processes or played with priors and posterior
    • Experience growth marketing/market expansion
Why you should join:

As an organization, we are keenly aware of the injustice of the war on drugs - which for so many years has been used to incarcerate black and latinx people on a massive scale. We are always trying to do our part to support these communities, whether it's through the promotion of social equity brands or funding underrepresented cannabis business founders through our accelerator program.

We strive to be an equal opportunity employer and enthusiastically encourage people from a wide variety of backgrounds and experiences to apply.
