Emsi’s IT team is responsible for foundational infrastructure and services including servers, storage, networks, DNS, authentication, email, web hosting, databases, and many other Unix-based services.
We are seeking an experienced systems administrator to join the IT team with the primary role of designing, implementing, and managing these services. You will be given an opportunity to exercise and expand your skills in a rapidly growing software company filled with unique challenges. A passion for information technology, problem-solving, and a desire to continuously learn are indicators of the success of this role. Strong experience with Linux, networking, storage, authentication, web hosting, virtualization, and scripting languages are strongly desired.

Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Plan, purchase, provision, maintain, and support: servers, storage, and network equipment
    • Manage LAN, WLAN, and WAN networks
    • Physical security (cameras, alarms, electronic key cards, etc.)
    • Digital security related to hardware and software, compliance with security protocols
    • Provide directory and authentication services
    • Infrastructure for network and on-premise servers,
    • Maintenance of production web and database servers
    • Admin of core network services and user authentication
    • Maintain backup and disaster recovery systems
    • Domain registration, SSL certificate management, and DNS services
    • Monitor performance and availability for systems, networks, and applications

Desired experience and skills:

    • Debian Linux and Windows server administration
    • BASH, Python, and PHP scripting languages
    • RAID, ZFS, and SAN storage
    • Understanding of network protocols and OSI model
    • DNS, DHCP, and VPN protocols
    • Active Directory or OpenLDAP directory services
    • Single Sign-On protocols (i.e., SAML)
    • Apache and Nginx web servers
    • NFS, SMB, and FTP file sharing protocols
    • MySQL and PostgreSQL databases
    • Git version control system
    • Saltstack or similar configuration management
