Emsi is hiring an experienced developer to help us craft the next version of Career Coach, a SaaS offering which combines course, career and labour market data to help students make better decisions in the world of education and work. Through this tool, students can explore different careers, find relevant data on the opportunities they offer, and link them to the courses they want to pursue.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about delivering complex data in clear, intelligible ways, who is product-minded, and able to work with a high degree of autonomy in turning the Career Coach vision into delivery. You will be working closely with our product development team to create a new platform which will deliver course and career data in captivating ways to best help students and colleges engage with this offering.

In terms of technical ability, candidates must have…

    • Experience with the front-end basics: HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript
    • Experience using a version control system
    • Familiarity with server-side languages: Node.js, php, Ruby
    • Familiarity with CSS preprocessors, e.g. LESS, SASS, Stylus
    • Familiarity with SQL
    • Familiarity with MV* frameworks, e.g. React, Ember, Angular, Vue
    • Familiarity with Integration/Deployment
    • Familiarity with REST API creation and use
    • Familiarity with git or other version control systems

Great candidates also have…

    • Experience with data visualization
    • Familiarity with microservice architecture
    • Worked with databases directly, rather than through an ORM
