e.construct designs structures such as bridges, high-rise design, commercial facilities design, precast concrete engineering, and post-tensioning design. We are a multi-disciplinary engineering design firm with specialized design and value engineering services.  The firm's core work is holistic at its approach, and it has divisions in structural, MEP, Geotechnical, and emerging construction technology such as 3D printing of concrete, technology, and 3D laser scanning.


VAES.ai uses generative specialist engineering design and optimization algorithms to produce optimized, constructible engineering construction drawings. VAES.ai aims to be every contractor’s in-house AI-powered engineering design platform to win projects and reduce construction costs and raw materials. VAES.ai is currently being incubated within e.construct, a multi-disciplinary engineering design firm. 

Role Summary 

As an SSE Principle, you will work with the VAES.ai team to build our core product, such as our deep foundation tool. You will also work on engineering design and optimization for projects, where you will be leading a team of SSE’s structural software engineers in addition to civil and software engineers. 

The candidate should have extensive experience in the industry and ideally has some experience with research institutions or academia. The candidate should be able to bridge between experimental and novel systems/research and traditional industry needs. To be able to fill this role you require both a solid understanding of structural fundamentals and experience with complex projects, including high rise design. Diverse experience with various structural systems such as precast, post-tension, structural steel is a plus. 

Responsibilities

    • Contribute to engineering logic that would be part of VAES.ai software.
    • Work with the engineering team to generate features for VAES.ai software.
    • Ensure engineering practices that the product is part of a holistic value engineering design philosophy.
    • Assist organize project staff according to project requirements and high-level design direction.
    • Contribute to the product roadmap for VAES.ai.
    • Evaluating industry software for integration with VAES.ai.
    • Overseeing the generating documents explaining structural fundamentals for both Vaes.ai users and VAES.ai engineers.
    • Conduct value engineering and project designs as well as supervise other design team members.
    • Set up the process for efficient value engineering and design including proposing tools to automate manual processes.
    • Provide direction, coordination, planning, and completion of engineering design and value engineering projects.
    • Provide sound technical expertise when applying engineering principles, techniques, and methods to design projects.
    • Write reports and proposals.
    • Institute and be part of a comprehensive review process of designs and calculations generated by both the engineering teams and VAES.ai.
    • Review blueprints plan to verify the structural integrity of designs and perform complex calculations and use modelling methods to ensure correct results.

Qualifications & Skills

    • Degree(Master’s preferred) in structural engineering or related field.
    • 12 to 20 years of experience.
    • Fundamental understanding of the behaviour of structures and principles.
    • Understanding of the principles of Finite Element Analysis
    • Working knowledge of current industry software, such as ETABS, RAM, Revit, AutoCAD, and other software.
    • Prior experience in managing and guiding engineers to efficiently produce calculations and sketches.
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
    • Professional work experience in developing blueprints and designs for proposed structures.
    • Ability to work with various departments to facilitate the orderly execution of a proposed project plan.
