About e.construct
We are an engineering firm that specializes in providing elegant engineering solutions for complex challenges. e.construct is a fast-growing firm with 7 offices around the world. At our core, we question how the very nature of how evolving the structures we inhabit can increase their performance and value.
We design structures such as bridges and high-rises using precast concrete and post-tensioning. The firm's core work is structural engineering; however, e.construct is increasingly holistic at its approach to buildings and it has divisions in MEP, geotechnical and emerging construction technologies such as 3D printing of concrete, 3D laser scanning, and machine learning technology.
About VAES.ai
We are a tech startup that is being incubated in the technology lab of e.construct and we employ technology to empower and eventually transform engineering. VAES.ai optimizes the quantity of concrete and steel in your structures using deep civil engineering, optimization algorithms, and machine learning. Our team consists of software developers, civil engineers, machine learning experts, architects, researchers, and graphic designers that builds tools that engineers can use to design and manufacture the next generation of cities.

About tBE
Powered by VAES.ai, the Built Environment (tBE) is a research platform exploring the impact of the Architecture Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry on our expanding cities. We aim to expose the global environmental impact of the AEC industry through two primary outputs: data-driven visuals and research-based writing.

Overview
We are seeking a highly analytical, creative, and detail-oriented Data Researcher to join our growing team. You are a strong candidate if you have the talent to effectively translate and communicate research findings into compelling written and visual narratives.

Primary Responsibilities

    • Develop hypotheses based on in-depth research into topics at the intersection of technology, engineering, and sustainability.
    • Manage and conduct research that generates large datasets (such as systematic academic literature reviews and comprehensive landscape analyses and studies) to support hypotheses.
    • Interpret and analyze research findings to generate easy-to-digest content of complex datasets.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate research findings into compelling narratives in the form of:
    • Data-driven visuals, including layered infographics, flow and relationship diagrams, interactive dashboards, multidimensional and hierarchical diagrams, etc.
    • Research-based writing, including short articles, white papers, blog posts, internal reports, presentations, etc.
    • Synthesize research into patterns and stories, displaying a passion for unpacking complex topics and creating stories and narratives around them.

Secondary Responsibilities

    • Understand the intended needs and potential of the research platform, and take ownership of enhancing and bettering it by advising on its utility.
    • Conduct research and analysis on industry trends, market opportunities, and emerging technologies that aligns with VAES.ai’s strategic objectives to inform the development of our thought leadership platform.
    • Understand the startup’s objective and pitch ideas that align for its growth; including marketing opportunities and opportunities for press coverage.
    • Explore grant and investment opportunities by organizations/government entities that want to support technology that would be part of the movement in reducing the carbon footprint of constructing our cities.

Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, design, journalism, or related field.
    • Master’s degree in related field is preferred (research, data analysis, design communication, etc).
    • Proven experience in data research, analysis, and hypothesis development (including academic and market research).
    • Proven experience in writing compelling narratives and structuring data-driven storytelling.
    • Proficiency in handling and analyzing large datasets using efficient processing techniques.
    • Knowledge of qualitative research methods and analysis (thematic analysis, interviews, case study analysis, narrative research).
    • Experience with visualization tools is preferred.
    • Detail and output-oriented mindset.
    • Experience in working with remote teams.
