Who you are...
You are a versatile problem solver and familiar with major control systems. As a Senior HVAC BAS Controls Specialist, you will use your passion and growing experience in mechanical systems to develop more efficient and sustainable Building Automation Systems (BAS).
The Senior HVAC BAS Controls Specialist will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and technicians on a multimillion-dollar and large-scale energy solutions project located in Washington, D.C. You will master all technical aspects of project mechanical equipment, establish cooperative relationships with building operators, and provide those operators on-site training and support, bringing a significant value-add to our clients.
What you will do…
- Perform on-site surveys of the client’s existing controls and BAS during the design phase.
- Analyze the client’s existing sequences of operation as well as the performance of their mechanical systems.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and controls systems. These can include boilers, chillers, motor starters, VFDs, control Inputs, Outputs, equipment integration, and actuators.
- Act as mentor, sharing your knowledge of controls with junior optimization specialists, design engineers, and construction managers.
- Select and size the correct major controls devices, such as valves, actuators, and sensors.
- Establish and document new and existing control points, and assist in developing new Sequence of Operations.
- Review mechanical and electrical drawings during the design phase and provide feedback.
- Work closely with Ecosystem’s construction managers to develop RFPs, negotiate and hire controls contractors.
- Assist in the development of novel controls solutions to achieve energy efficiency goals.
- Collaborate with the Client Acquisition team, design engineers, construction managers, other optimization specialists, equipment manufacturers, subcontractors, and building owners through all phases of the project. Train the client’s on-site staff in use and maintenance of newly installed mechanical systems.
- Optimize the operation of new and existing equipment and systems to achieve peak efficiency.
- Monitor completed projects to maintain energy savings during the follow-up period.
Your profile…
- 10+ Experience in HVAC Building Automation Systems installations on mechanical systems, such as air handlers, VAVs, chilled water systems, and hot water systems.
- Proven experience hiring and managing controls contractors.
- Experience in writing and troubleshooting controls’ programs from leading integrators or manufacturers, such as Delta Controls, Automated Logic Controls, Schneider, Distech Controls, Johnson Controls, Siemens, Honeywell etc.
- Experience in reading and understanding mechanical sequence of operations.
- Ability to troubleshoot hardware devices and wiring.
- Work on-site daily to monitor the performance of completed projects and provide support during design, construction, and commissioning phases.
- Occasional travel to Canada and other United States offices.

- Annual base salary of approx. $115,000 - $155,000. Base salary is an approximate range and dependent on location and years of relevant experience.
