Who you are... 
You are a versatile problem solver and familiar with major control systems. As a Building Automation Specialist, you will use your passion and growing experience in mechanical systems to develop more efficient and sustainable Building Automation Systems (BAS).
Located at Ecosystem’s DC office, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers and technicians on a variety of innovative, multimillion-dollar, large-scale energy solutions projects. You will master all technical aspects of project mechanical equipment, establish cooperative relationships with building operators, and provide those operators on-site training and support, bringing a significant value-add to our clients.

What you will do...

    • Perform on-site surveys of the client’s existing controls and BAS during the design phase.
    • Analyze the client’s existing sequences of operation as well as the performance of their mechanical systems.
    • Select and size the correct major controls devices, such as valves, actuators, and sensors.
    • Establish and document new and existing control points.
    • Work closely with Ecosystem’s Construction Manager to develop RFPs, negotiate and hire controls contractors.
    • Assist in the development of novel controls solutions to achieve energy efficiency goals.
    • Collaborate with the Senior Mechanical Systems Optimization Specialist, Construction Manager and mechanical systems manufacturers to perform commissioning and start-ups on all systems and equipment, including boilers and chillers.
    • Train the client’s on-site staff in use and maintenance of newly installed mechanical systems.
    • Optimize the operation of new and existing equipment and systems to achieve peak efficiency.
    • Monitor completed projects to maintain energy savings during the follow-up period.

Your profile...

    • 5+ Experience in HVAC Building Automation Systems and installing mechanical systems such as air handlers and VAVs. 
    • Experience in writing and troubleshooting programs controllers from leading integrators or manufacturers, such as Delta Controls, Distech Controls, Johnson Controls, Siemens, Honeywell etc.
    • Proven experience hiring and managing controls contractors.
    • Experience in reading and understanding mechanical sequence of operations.
    • Understanding of mechanical systems and mechanical drawings.
    • Ability to troubleshoot hardware devices and wiring.
    • Daily travel on-site for performance monitoring, construction and commissioning phases.
    • Occasional travel to Canada and other United States offices.
    • Ability to work autonomously and demonstrate good judgment.
    • Valid driver’s license.

    • Annual base salary of approx. $90,000 - $125,000. Base salary is an approximate range and dependent on location and years of relevant experience.
