Position Overview

The Sustainability Strategy team is seeking a Manager with demonstrated expertise in environmental commodities including carbon offsets and energy attribute certificates (EAC). The successful candidate will engage the voluntary carbon market (VCM) and EAC market (REC, REGO, I-REC, GO, etc.) to procure environmental commodities that support our clients’ sustainability objectives. A critical component of this work will be to ensure that clients are well educated about these markets, and that their environmental commodity purchases are guided by clear sourcing strategies that align to organizational priorities. Edison Energy currently advises high-profile, global clients (large industrial, institutional & commercial clients) on how procuring environmental commodities can enable them to meet their sustainability commitments drive by customer demand, growing compliance obligations, or internal goals. This is a critical opportunity to drive meaningful climate action at scale by leveraging the growing carbon market. This role will be instrumental in growing Edison Energy’s global carbon offset and energy attribute certificate service offering. This role will be responsible for expanding and managing relationships
with our supplier network for both carbon offsets and EACs, and leading procurement efforts on behalf of our clients. In addition, the Manager will play a critical role in the evaluation process, identifying the risks and opportunities associated with individual projects and refining Edison’s due diligence process. This role is for someone who has a passion for sustainability, is a great relationship developer and has an entrepreneurial spirit. Key Responsibilities

    • Lead procurement efforts on behalf of clients including running RFPs, managing communications, evaluating offers, providing recommendations, and supporting contract negotiation and credit delivery
    • Oversee diligence and analysis to align client needs, budgets, and risks
    • Carefully track contracting, invoicing, and retirement to provide visibility and assurance to clients Strategy
    • Deliver consulting services for environmental commodities
    • Proactively identify needs and opportunities to mature offering by creating new deliverables, processes, systems, and tools
    • Maintain forecasts of future carbon pricing based on different scenarios across the global marketplace, leveraging external market intelligence
    • Support business development directors on client and sales meetings to demonstrate deep subject matter expertise on environmental commodities markets Engagement
    • Develop and expand new and existing relationships with carbon offset and EAC retailers, developers, traders and other intermediaries and industry groups
    • Monitor developments in the voluntary carbon and EAC markets, including credit opportunities, buying trends, new software tools, and projects and industry initiatives
    • Stay informed on industry trends and policy, and attend relevant events and conferences
    • Present educational materials including market overviews, trends, and specific project, information to both internal and external audiences

Desired Background

    •  5+ years of relevant professional experience within the VCM or EAC industries, (i.e., project development, VCM registry, credit supplier, consulting, industry association etc.)
    • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, sustainability, engineering, economics, business, finance, or other  relevant discipline
    • A strong network across the VCM landscape, including relationships with suppliers, or industry initiatives
    • Deep understanding of voluntary carbon markets – including certification methodologies, project development financial fundamentals, key risks, and anticipated market evolution
    • Deep understanding of energy attribute markets – including international standards and familiarity with GHG Scope 2 Protocol Key

    • Fluency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); knowledge of PowerBI - highly desired
    • Experience with data visualization

    • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate and work effectively in a team environment while harnessing the ability to build direct working relationships internally and externally
    • Adaptability and resiliency – able to operate as part of a cross-functional global team
