Harbinger Motors Inc. is a Los Angeles-based electric vehicle manufacturer on a mission to transform the automotive and transportation industries, bringing to market EVs developed from the ground up to address the needs of the Medium Duty vehicle industry. This broad, and to date poorly addressed, market segment includes class 4 to 7 commercial delivery vehicles, RVs and utility vehicles, among others. Position Overview
As an intern working with Harbinger's Controls team, you will play an active role in the development of control systems for an electric medium duty vehicle. You will support the development of software, and design of systems for the propulsion. This intern is for the summer period, with dates flexible depending on school calendars.
Responsibilities
- Develop controls algorithms in Simulink and Stateflow
- Create Physical models in SimScape to represent vehicle components and systems
- Perform Model-In-the-Loop simulation tests for validation for control algorithms
- Write software unit tests in Simulink Test
- Debug issues in implemented code found in simulation or in-vehicle testing
- Use vehicle communication instrumentation to root-cause issues identified
- Assist with hands-on evaluation of controls performance in bench setups and in-vehicle
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Experience with MATLAB / Simulink required
- Experience with source control systems such as git, svn, mercurial required
- Experience with continuous integration / continuous development techniques and services
- Knowledge of hybrid / electric vehicle systems and components preferred
- Experience with CAN monitoring tools such as CANalyzer, BusMaster, or similar preferred
- Exposure to Classical / Modern Control theory preferred
