Element Biosciences is a multi-disciplinary startup focused on innovating genetic analysis tools for the research and clinical markets. The Company's technology will broaden the end user experience through improved data quality and simplified workflows to benefit discoveries and diagnosis in healthcare.


    • Contribute to overall integration of instrument mechanical, motion, fluidic and thermal design
    • Assist team in providing front line instrumentation support for internal R&D teams
    • Document and perform calibration, preventative maintenance, and installation/operational qualification of standard and non-standard lab equipment
    • Assist with complex, multi-disciplinary internal and external product performance investigations
    • Work closely with optical, mechanical, fluidic, electrical, and other engineering teams to troubleshoot and repair instrumentation issues and provide design feedback
    • Interface with development and operations teams to provide system level subject matter expertise
    • Assist with execution of experiments to test and troubleshoot instrument performance and feasibility
    • Collaborate with internal and external partners on subsystem design and transfer to manufacture
    • Assist with the authoring of technical documents such as manufacturing and installation instructions


    • Minimum BS degree in Mechanical/Engineering/Bioengineering or similar field (an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered)
    • Hands-on experience with optics, mechanics, fluidics, electronics, software, metrology, and automation
    • Experience with data analysis in LabVIEW, MATLAB, python or other programing languages or statistics software
    • Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment and adjust to rapidly evolving technology
    • Strong written and oral communication skills
    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks with different priorities
    • History of working in multidisciplinary field including biochemistry/chemistry/biology/optics/mechanics/electrical/software
    • Experience with microfluidic systems
    • Familiarity and experience with motion control systems and instrument automation
    • Experience with image analysis and signal processing
