Responsibilities 

    • Manage all payroll operations related to employee compensation, bonuses, commissions, equity transaction, benefits, etc.; this includes processing payroll for exempt and non-exempt workers,
    • Ensure accurate withholding and submission of payroll taxes and other deductions
    • Produce audit reports to validate payroll data integrity, research discrepancies and identify and resolve payroll-related issues
    • Deliver out of cycle/ad hoc payments to employees and production and issuance of manual checks or electronic transfers to bank accounts
    • Ownership of payroll procedures including analysis, design & implementation of changes to ensure continuous improvement in accuracy and efficiency, while operating within compliance with company policies and tax laws
    • Coordinate and partner with HR to keep all payroll records accurate and up to date, on employee compensation benefits and withholding (401K, FSA, etc.) elections
    • Provide ad-hoc analysis of payroll and benefits
    • Perform monthly payroll close duties, including the preparation of period-end accruals and monthly journal entries for all payroll and benefits and preparation of reconciliations of payroll accounts
    • Support annual financial statement, 401k, and audits as required
    • Manage annual preparation and delivery of Forms W-2
    • Respond to employee inquiries and requests regarding payroll matters
    • Maintain compliance with all Federal, State, and local payroll tax laws Requirements, determine taxability of various employment  
    • Manage payroll staff by providing leadership, direction, coaching and development to encourage them to perform with excellence
    • Prepare amendments and follow up on tax resolution issues
    • Manage audit related activities of payroll function
    • Responsible for establishing and maintaining payroll policies & procedures

Requirements

    • 7-10 years’ overall experience, 2 – 5 years as payroll manager managing multi-state payroll processes and familiarity with new-state registration
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business and/or equivalent combination of education
    • Certified Payroll Professional certification
    • Demonstrated expertise supporting best practice payroll processes, systems, policies, and key internal controls
    • Highly analytical with a strong working knowledge of general payroll protocols, accounting principles and Federal, State and local regulations, able to research and resolve process and data issues related to payroll
    • Deep understanding of payroll processes including upstream and downstream impacts of payroll related activity
    • Detail oriented with strong analytical, written and oral communication skills
    • Ability to identify solutions to problems, exercise sound judgment, multi-task, and maintain confidentiality
    • Strong leadership and people management skills
    • Workday experience a plus
