We are looking for an Assistant Controller to work with our diverse team in our Alameda, CA headquarters.

The Role
Reporting to the CFO, the Assistant Controller coordinates and executes the general ledger and project accounting and financial reporting for Emerson Human Capital.  This position supervises a Staff Accountant and requires the ability to multitask, collaborate with stakeholders, and ensure compliance with established company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities
¨      Trains, supervises and reviews work of Staff Accountant to ensure quality and timeliness
¨      Coordinates and executes monthly financial reporting process including data collection, review, analysis, and reconciliations
¨      Prepares various management reports with an emphasis on accuracy and timeliness
¨      Participates in designing, establishing, documenting and implementing accounting policies and procedures
¨      Ensures accounts payable, customer billings, collections, cash applications and payroll are processed accurately and executed on a timely basis
¨      Maintains project reporting in ERP (Deltek) to ensure accurate and timely management reporting
¨      Assists in the timely and accurate reporting of information for tax, insurance and other regulatory matters
¨      Prepares various general ledger reconciliations
¨      Alerts management to issues encountered in the course of responsibilities
¨      Completes special projects as assigned
 
Skills and Qualifications
¨      BS in Accounting
¨      CPA license preferred
¨      5 years’ experience in general and project accounting, responsible for full-cycle financial close
¨      3 years’ experience at a professional services firm
¨      2 years’ managerial experience preferred
¨      Required software experience: Deltek, MS Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
