EMILY’s List, the nation’s largest resource for women in politics, is searching for a Special Assistant to the President.  The Special Assistant to the President manages the president’s office, schedule, travel, and correspondence. As Special Assistant, you’ll manage the information flow to and from the president’s office and play a key role in ensuring organizational alignment and support at the senior-most levels of the organization.

Essential Job Functions

    • Arrange all travel logistics for the president and travel with her as needed at development and political events;
    • Manage the briefing process, including collaborating with other departments to produce itineraries and briefings for major events, trips, speeches, and meetings;
    • Coordinate information flow to-and-from- the president’s office;
    • Ensure all speaking requests are screened and coordinated with the communications department and across the organization;
    • Communicate regularly with senior leadership to ensure alignment and support of the president’s office;
    • Manage the daily operations of the president’s office, including invoicing, mail, meeting follow-up, database entry, and relaying intra-office documents;
    • Work with the senior leadership to ensure the President is prepared for Board of Directors meetings;
    • Anticipate the needs of the President by planning ahead and relaying pertinent information in a timely manner;
    • Perform additional duties as assigned.


    • At least 2-4 years of experience assisting a high level executive or public official in a fast paced environment;  
    • Outstanding communication, writing, and analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail;
    • Ability to think on one’s feet and plan ahead; anticipate needs and problems, and develop solutions with minimal guidance;
    • Ability to represent the President and the organization at all times;
    • Ability to work successfully across the organizational hierarchy;
    • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and distinguish priorities with little supervision;
    • Significant knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
    • Significant knowledge of Google Workspace, including calendar, docs, drive, and Gmail;

The salary for this position is $62,000 to $70,000 and comes with a comprehensive benefits package.  The starting pay for this position is equal to others at the same level throughout the organization.
