Veterinary Care and Specialty Group (VCSG) is seeking a skilled and dedicated Veterinary Anesthesia Technician to join our dynamic veterinary team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our animal patients during various medical procedures. The Veterinary Anesthesia Technician will work closely with veterinarians and other veterinary staff to administer anesthesia, monitor vital signs, and provide comprehensive support to ensure the highest standards of care for animals undergoing surgical or diagnostic procedures.

Veterinary Care & Specialty Group (VCSG) is an emergency and referral hospital located in the South Broad Street area of Chattanooga, TN. Our facility has the latest diagnostic equipment including MRI, ultrasound, digital x-ray, CT, and state-of-the-art lab equipment.
 
We have board-certified surgeons for soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries. We are one of the only hospitals in the area that offers total hip replacement surgery. We have a full anesthesiology group with board-certified anesthesiologists.

What you will be doing:

    • Anesthesia Administration : Administer and monitor anesthesia during surgical and diagnostic procedures, ensuring appropriate dosage and patient response. Calculate drug dosages based on the weight, species, and health status of the animal. Maintain anesthetic records and document patient vitals throughout the procedure.
    • Monitoring and Assessment: Continuously monitor patient vital signs, including heart rate, respiratory rate, blood pressure, and oxygen saturation. Recognize and respond promptly to changes in patient status, adjusting anesthesia as necessary. Utilize monitoring equipment and advanced monitoring techniques to ensure patient safety.
    • Equipment Management: Perform routine maintenance on anesthesia equipment, ensuring functionality and safety. Calibrate and troubleshoot anesthesia machines, ventilators, and monitoring devices. Keep an inventory of anesthesia-related supplies and medications.
    • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with veterinarians and veterinary staff to plan and coordinate anesthesia protocols for individual cases. Communicate effectively with the veterinary team, providing updates on patient status and any concerns during anesthesia.
    • Patient Advocacy: Advocate for the well-being and comfort of patients before, during, and after anesthesia. Implement and maintain protocols for pre-anesthetic patient assessment and post-anesthetic recovery.
    • Emergency Response: Be prepared to respond to emergency situations, including anesthetic complications, and provide immediate and appropriate interventions.

    • Excellent client service & communication skills
    • Veterinary Technician Credentialing - LVMT/LVT/RVT/CVT preferred
    • 1-2 years of anesthetic monitoring in a veterinary surgical setting preferred
    • experience in a specialty/referral veterinary hospital setting preferred
$18 - $24 an hour
Salary Negotiable based on skills and experience.
