About Harbor Point Animal Hospital: Harbor Point Animal Hospital is an AAHA Accredited Animal Hospital since 2017. This means we are held to a higher standard of medical care for our patients. Our entire practice are Fear Free Certified Professionals. This is something that our staff has worked very hard towards and are very passionate about. All employees will be expected to complete the Fear Free training after hire and learn to implement these values into your daily work.

Position Summary: The primary duty of this position is caring for the pets that are staying at the Harbor Point Hotel, as well as the pets that come for doggy day care.

The Hotel Staff provide care and the basic needs of animals that are being groomed, boarded, or participating in doggie day care including cleaning of cages, runs and ward areas, laundry, walking, and proper feeding, medicating and ensuring a safe environment while dogs are in group play.

Position Duties and Responsibilities:

Handle animals as required.
Computer notes input.
Walk dogs and oversee play groups several times a day to provide exercise and time for elimination.
Provide care for animals housed/visiting the Hospital. Report signs of illness, disease, injury or unusual activity to medical staff.
Ensure that cages and animals are properly numbered and identified and that personal property (toys, treats, blankets, leashes) are stored in the proper area identified.
Clean, disinfect and maintain kennels, cages, runs and stalls as often as is necessary to ensure no cages or kennels are soiled and odors are not apparent.
Perform general cleaning in other areas of the hospital to control the spread of disease. Wash and sterilize water and food bowls.
Launder and dry towels and blankets.
Patrol hospital grounds daily, picking up and trash and stool material. Empty trash.
Record information such as feeding schedules, appearance, behavior of animals that are boarded, groomed or hospitalized.
Exhibit a technical knowledge of products and medications sold, including dietary products.
Demonstrate the ability to explain and educate clients on products and answer their questions regarding product purchase/use.
Work well with all employees and ensure that your actions support the hospital, the doctors and the practice philosophy.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills and Knowledge:

Computer skills and knowledge for data entry.
Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction on given assignments. Understand and carry out oral and written instruction.
Apply knowledge and skills in controlling/handling/restraining individual animal temperament
Ability to use cleaning materials and equipment with skill and efficiency
Ability to perform moderately heavy physical labor
Knowledge of principles and processes for providing client and personal services - This includes client needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of client satisfaction
Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition and grammar
Performance Measurements: Performance will be evaluated at the end of the initial 90 day introductory period and every 6 months thereafter. Performance will be evaluated based upon the following: attendance, punctuality, dependability, job performance, client care, teamwork, and progress of job knowledge.

Frequently required to bend, stand, stoop, walk, sit communicate, and listen, frequently working in a bent position.
Frequently use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel; will reach with hands and arms.
Use strength or agility in capturing and restraining stronger, more active animals.
Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
Occasionally handle dogs weighing up to and over 150 pounds. Assistance will be provided by Veterinary Assistants when working with larger animals.

Other: Hotel Staff members must possess good critical thinking and problem solving skills, compassion, a positive attitude, follow-through and excellent communication and teamwork skills. Multitasking and accepting constructive criticism is essential. Punctuality and attendance is expected.

Availability Needs: Harbor Point Hotel may operate between 6:00 am-8:00pm Monday through Sunday. At this time, a full time position availability requirements may vary. This full time position will hold up to 40 hours a week and schedule may vary.
