Friendship Hospital For Animals is seeking a Veterinary Sterile Processing Technician to join our team. We are willing to train the right candidate! You may need to start at an assistant level and follow a training program.
The sterile processing technician helps maintain an efficient workflow in our busy surgical service. A successful candidate for this position should be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, detail oriented, able to multitask, and able to take initiative.
Technicians should be able to work Tue-Fri closing shift -8pm
Assistants may be asked to work a day shift during the week.

What you will be doing (THE MISSION):
- Assisting the lead in creating protocols and training assistants
- Assist with setting up and breaking down of operating rooms
- Decontaminate, clean, inspect, package and sterilize a wide variety of instruments and items according to proper procedure
- Set-up and breakdown of equipment used in the operating room
- Basic veterinary assisting including restraint and animal husbandry
- Working in and around a sterile field; assist with handing instruments to surgeon during procedures
- Multitasking
- Other Duties as assigned
What you have as a Technician:
- 1-2 years experience in Sterile Processing
- Certification (CRCST) from the HSPA or equivalent organization
- Attention to detail/able to produce high quality work
- Able to memorize and master large amounts of detailed information (instruments, protocols)
- Can be a team player (can work together to complete tasks) and can self-motivate when working alone
- Can balance quality with efficiency (without sacrificing personal well-being)
- Can understand the importance & effective practice of sterility, good hygiene and proper workflows
- Excellent communication skills-- both verbal and written
- Ability to effectively solve problems and make decisions as needed.
- Ability to multi-task in a stressful environment
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
- Ability to work around a variety of animals
- Ability to lift up to 50-75lbs
$20 - $35 an hour
compensation is based on skills, credentialing and experience.
