Pet Care Veterinary Hospital is an AAHA Accredited and Fear Free Certified practice located in Virginia Beach, VA. We are looking for a hard-working, smart, detail-oriented, and organized Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our team. 

Pet Care is a busy, 7 doctor, exotics-heavy hospital that has a long history of providing compassionate care and gold-standard medicine for patients in the Hampton Roads area. 

Our LVTs are highly leveraged and well supported by a hardworking team of CSRs, Veterinary Assistants, and Managers. Our veterinarians depend on LVTs to perform all duties within their scope of practice. 

Requirements and responsibilities:

--Licensed or qualified for license in the state of Virginia. (Technician Students actively enrolled in an AVMA approved program also encouraged to apply)
Laboratory skills- our LVTs perform urinalysis, cytology, needle aspirates, fecal analysis, WBC differentials, DTMs, and run (willing to train on manual differentials of blood smears for avian and reptiles)
-Diagnostics including ophthalmic exams, ocular pressure, needle aspirates, blood pressure (doppler and oscillometric), radiographs.
-Utilization of ultrasound for fast scans and cystocentesis
-Effective communication with coworkers and pet owners
-Experience with induction and monitoring a variety of species under heavy sedation and/or general anesthesia.
-Competent in phlebotomy, administering vaccines, injections, and placing IV catheters in a variety of species.
-Proficient or willing to train in dentistry and dental radiographs under the guidance of a VTS-Dentistry.
-Patient care including splint and bandage applications, minor wound care, NG and Esophageal feeding tube maintenance, urinary catheters, post-op support, administering oxygen, fluid therapy, blood transfusion, syringe feeding.
-Demonstrate a variety of patient treatments to pet owners.
-Participate in community outreach and education.
