We are seeking an enthusiastic veterinary technician to join our anesthesia team. The swing shift anesthesia technician will help the daytime team with late day anesthetic cases and emergency procedures and will also provide support to our emergency and critical care teams with anesthetized and sedated procedures.
Friendship's anesthesia team provides support to not only our surgical department, but also supports the anesthesia needs of our specialty services, including diagnostic imaging and internal medicine, in addition to, our general surgery and dentistry services. Swing shift also supports our emergency and critical care department. Our anesthesia team is led and supported by our board-certified anesthesiologist.
Signing bonus for LVT/CVT/RVT or at least 2 years of applicable experience. Bonus will dispersed half on first paycheck and half after 90 days of employment.
Requirements:
- Induce anesthesia, intubate, and maintain the patient in a suitable plane of anesthesia
- Manage anesthetic emergencies under the direction of a veterinarian
- Having a good knowledge of all anesthetic and analgesic medication used and their side effects
- Following anesthetic protocols for patients as determined by anesthesiologist
- Proper maintenance and operation of all anesthetic equipment and other equipment related to the service
- Know about surgical instruments, their use, and their care
- Perform dental cleanings and polish teeth, know the correct positioning and technique for dental radiographs, creating and suturing dental flaps, and be able to generate a dental chart independently (if cross-trained in this service)
- Recover patients and transfer back to admitting service
- Working collaboratively with the entire Friendship team
- Must have a flexible schedule; on-call required
- Other duties as assigned
