Veterinary Cardiology Technician

The veterinary technician working in the Cardiology service should be dedicated and enthusiastic about
cardiology and willing to learn and develop their knowledge and skill set around the needs of the service. The cardiology
technician’s role is to assist the cardiologist with procedures, client communications, and communication with staff doctors in
order to make their day and the client’s experience as seamless as possible. The cardiology technician should enjoy interacting
and communicating with clients as well as patients. The cardiology technician is responsible for the maintenance of cardiology
equipment, including echocardiogram, and for cardiology specific inventory. Cross-training with the cardiology coordinator
would also be required.

Responsibilities

    • Work independently under the guidance of the Cardiologist
    • Triage all Cardiology appointments
    • Generate and review estimates with clients
    • Cross-train and fill in for client coordinator role when needed.
    • Be able to field phone calls from clients, schedule Cardiology appointments, and refill prescriptions
    • Generate treatment sheets for in-hospital patients following the orders of Cardiologist
    • Maintain the sanitation and stocking of the Cardiology suite
    • Maintain an appropriate inventory of the Cardiology suite
    • Proper routine care and maintenance of all Cardiology equipment
    • Skilled in placing patient restraint, IV catheter placement, drawing blood, obtaining blood pressures; taking thoracic radiographs, comfortable sedating and monitoring patients.
    • Excellent skills in managing difficult or fractious patients for diagnostics with minimal stress to the patient
    • Can take high-quality radiographs or willingness to learn
    • Interested in future opportunity to scrub in to assist for pacemaker placement
    • Willingness to learn other skills as dictated by the needs of the service
    • Follow all policies and procedures as outlined in the FHA Employment Manual.
    • Other duties as assigned
