Friendship Hospital for Animals is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic veterinary technicians to join our training team. Various shifts are available in our Emergency/Progressive Care Unit and this role would directly support the training and development of that team.  Schedules will need to be flexible and can include weekend days, AM, PM or OVN shifts.  A successful candidate would be dedicated to providing a high level of care to our patients, clients and staff, have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and be adaptable to a dynamic workload. A minimum of 2 years' experience and LVT/RVT/CVT is preferred. 
   
 


All the responsibilities of a PCU/ICU technician plus:

    • Work one on one with new staff to help them develop new skills and solidify learned ones.   
    • Aid staff in acclimation to the hospital and through level testing 
    • Work 1 shift on PCU/ICU shift per pay period to stay UTD on protocol changes 
    • If staff members cannot be moved to the schedule of the training tech, flexibility will be needed. Training tech may be moved to the schedule of the trainee temporarily. 
    • Help the continued progression of current staff through new skills and up to/including VTNE prep 
    • FHA should be the primary position held over other possible positions 
    • Be in consistent communication with Tech Management and Patient Care Manager with updates on staff development.   
    • Fill out weekly mentee development log, update sign off sheets and keep all documents UTD 
    •  Participate in continuing education and conduct CE to provide group training opportunities. 
    •  Generate solutions for problems or challenges in the department.   
    •  Other duties as assigned   

Skills and Abilities:

    • All skills and Abilities of a PCU/ICU technician: 
    • Animal handling skills and a basic understanding of animal behavior and low stress handling techniques   
    • Ability to remain calm and multi-task in a stressful environment.   
    • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing with a variety of individuals   
    • Ability to work positively as a team player.   
    • Ability to learn, apply new skills and follow through with directions/tasks   
    • Ability to effectively problem solve and make decisions as needed.   
    • Ability to learn and use computers, technical machinery and laboratory equipment.   
    • Ability to lift 40 lbs.   
    • Ability to stand for 10 hours
