Veterinary Emergency and Referral Group (VERG) is looking for a Veterinary Surgical Assistant to join our team. The Surgical Assistant plays a crucial role by providing support to the surgery team by preparing operating rooms and suites, ensuring proper care and handling of surgical equipment, and maintaining a safe and sterile surgical environment. What you will be doing:
- Prepare, setup and breakdown the operating room including arranging surgical instrumentation
- Prepping patient tables
- Cleaning and sterilizing surgical equipment
- Preparing surgical packs
- Cleaning of the operating room
- Stocking of the operating room
- Assist the veterinary surgical team as needed
What you bring to the team
- A love for animals and a passion for the veterinary field
- experience working in a surgical environment, veterinary industry preferred
- knowledge of sterile techniques preferred
- experience with steam and gas sterilization processes preferred
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- A compassionate, attentive, positive and respectful attitude
- A collaborative spirit- a willingness to support the team, be flexible and dependable
- A strong ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- An ability to manage time and priorities with minimal direct supervision
- A willingness to work non-traditional hours such as weekends, evenings, and a share of holidays
$21 - $27 an hour
