Silk and Snow is a Toronto-based, digitally native business that offers thoughtfully designed bedding products with a frictionless customer experience. We are a small and highly collaborative team looking to add a passionate and detail-oriented UX/UI designer to join the Silk and Snow team on a 12-month contract. You are team-oriented, versatile, collaborative, and eager to take on the different challenges that come with working for an energetic start-up.
This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams, conducting user research, designing wireframes and prototypes, implementing of designs, and iterating designs based on user feedback and rigorous testing.
Our ideal candidate will have experience creating a cohesive style guide, testing and tracking changes to ensure maximum efficiency, providing a consistent design language, maintaining consistency in visual elements, and defining design behaviour.
What You'll Do:
- Design conceptual diagrams, wireframes, information architecture, high-fidelity mockups, prototypes, and interaction specifications for desktop, tablet, and mobile devices
- Develop and maintain detailed user-interface specifications and design patterns that scale for your team and influence other designers
- Understand users’ demographic and behaviour, including reviewing page speed insights, accessibility, and engagement and making recommendations for improvement
- Ensure consistent brand styling across brand experiences
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, developers, and marketers, to ensure alignment between design, development, and business goals
- Responsible for the successful implementation of designs and features, iterating designs as required based on tests, key metrics, and user behaviour
Who You Are:
- 3+ years of experience working in a UX/UI Design role (eCommerce preferred)
- Bachelor’s Degree in Design or related discipline
- Expert knowledge in design tools such as Adobe XD, Figma, Sketch, or similar
- Experience leveraging analytics tools (Google Analytics/GA4) and tracking user behaviour
- Demonstrated knowledge of the latest interaction design patterns and trends
- Strong understanding of web and mobile design trends, user-centric design principles and best practices
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Graphic design experience is an asset
- Knowledge of HTML/CSS is an asset
This is a 12-month contract position, with the possibility of extension to permanent part/full-time.
