ERI has an immediate opening in San Leandro, CA for a Senior Manufacturing Process Engineer. We are looking for a multidisciplinary, talented and energetic candidate who thrives in a team environment and is an effective individual contributor. This position is responsible for implementing highly effective manufacturing techniques and processes to make next generation energy recovery devices, pumps, turbines and turbochargers for desalination, waste water and refrigeration markets, as well as contributing to and leading various product development projects for new technologies in other industries. The position requires an independent thinker who can investigate innovative manufacturing solutions based on relevance, impact and cost. As a member of a small engineering group the successful candidate will perform a broad range of duties and play a pivotal role in the success of the technical group.

What Will You Do?

    • Lead all activities related to manufacturing including fabrication, assembly, process automation, testing, quality & warranty evaluation involving centrifugal turbines, pumps, energy recovery devices and integrated systems operating in severe conditions including corrosive, abrasive, erosive & high pressure environments
    • Drive manufacturing reviews to optimize processes for existing products as well as establish state-of-art & cost effective techniques for new products involving medium-volume industrial products, subassemblies and individual components
    • Interface on regular basis with cross-functional teams including design engineering, application engineering, sales and technical service
    • Ensure commercial success and quality of products by applying contemporary process optimization methodologies such as Design for Manufacturability, Design for Assembly, Design for Cost, statistical analysis and design optimization
    • Steer the manufacturing group via creation of assembly and test fixture designs and documentation, technical qualification of suppliers, evaluation and qualification of manufacturing methodologies etc.
    • Leverage technical background and understanding of engineering fundamentals for specification of off-the-shelf hardware, components and raw materials
    • Assist in development and building of equipment and apparatus for prototype evaluation, performance and accelerated life testing
    • Participate in supplier evaluation, gauge R&R studies, quality audits, RMAs and warranty claims

What You Bring to the Table:

    • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering or a closely related field
    • 5 - 10 years of experience in a design and manufacturing environment preferably focusing on rotating equipment and auxiliaries in Industrial/ Aerospace/Automotive/Oil & Gas or related industries
    • High competency in interpretation of drawings, engineering standards, GD&T methodologies, tolerance stack-up, manufacturing processes, etc.
    • High level of technical competency in the fundamentals of manufacturing techniques, mechanical engineering design and analysis
    • Demonstrated application of modern engineering tools as well as sound judgment to create innovative solutions to design problems
    • Knowledge of conventional and cutting-edge manufacturing processes and capabilities (including traditional machining, casting, welding, material treatment, brazing, EDM, HIP, additive manufacturing etc.)
    • Exposure to material surface treatments and coating for erosive and corrosive conditions is a major plus
    • Experience in plastic injection molding is highly desirable
    • Strong SolidWorks skills including recent work experience; experience with the use of PLM and ERP programs is a plus
    • Must possess a demonstrated ability to work in a team environment, under pressure, manage multiple tasks, and be goal oriented
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and presentation skills

$114,000 - $179,000 a year
The salary range for this role is $114,000 to $179,000/year with bonus opportunity, equity grant, and other perks. The stated range is the range that we reasonably believe to be the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in California. This range may be modified in the future.
