About the Role
As a member of the Operations Team, the Associate Laboratory Operations Manager is responsible for supporting all day-to-day operations of The Engine’s laboratory facilities and will manage all laboratory equipment maintenance and troubleshooting. They will work closely with residents, vendors, consultants, laboratory operations team members, and The Engine Accelerator leadership to ensure the upkeep and maintenance of the laboratories. We are looking for a proactive individual to carry out a variety of activities, including but not limited to, equipment troubleshooting, ensuring compliance with local, federal, and state regulations, onboarding/training new residents, document management, and supporting the research needs of resident teams. The ideal candidate will have a positive attitude, a strong customer service focus, and enjoy working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Areas of Responsibility
- Provide day-to-day laboratory operations support (laboratory equipment management, housekeeping, and general laboratory management)
- Provide day to day support to resident companies on access, training, and troubleshooting of laboratory equipment such as Biosafety Cabinets, Flow Cytometers, qPCR, etc.
- Serve as a primary contact for all laboratory-specific requests, and communicate with resident companies to provide relevant updates
- Support the Laboratory Operations Manager and resident companies with as needed laboratory tasks and special projects
- Oversee environmental monitoring systems
- Write and review relevant SOPs
- Manage equipment maintenance records
- Provide POs to vendors, approve vendor invoices, and support internal billing
- Maximize efficiency within the laboratory by updating workflows as needed
- Work with resident companies and Engine EHS to ensure hazardous material compliance and inventory
Job Requirements

- A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent
- 2-5 year experience with working in a laboratory environment
- The ability to work in-person on a full-time basis from Monday through Friday, including some early mornings and evenings as needed to support operations
- Effective communication skills
- Highly values teamwork

- Detail-oriented and very organized, with solid time management skills

$70,000 - $90,000 a year
