THE ROLE

Reporting directly to the President, the VP of Legal (exact title will be TBD based on candidate’s background) will serve as the primary legal advisor for Enhanced and act as the cornerstone of our legal and risk management strategy.

You will maintain the company’s legal foundation, addressing everything from athlete agreements and IP protection to global compliance, data privacy (including HIPAA), and corporate governance. This role demands a creative, forward‑thinking lawyer comfortable with ambiguity and passionate about aligning legal best practices with bold, disruptive business objectives.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

Legal Strategy & Oversight: Advise the President and senior leadership on all legal, operational, and compliance matters, aligning risk mitigation with the company’s ambitious growth trajectory.
Company Secretarial: Coordinate all corporate aspects including Venture Capital fundraising and preparation for equity capital markets transactions.
Sports & Regulatory Compliance: Stay at the cutting edge of evolving sports and medical regulations, including anti‑doping policies, medical ethics, and international sports law.
Clinical trial / life sciences: Negotiate CRO agreement and trial site agreements, and prepare clinical trial protocol and informed consent documentation that complies with medical regulation and cross-border data protection provisions.
Intellectual Property: Protect and enforce the company’s IP portfolio, collaborating with external IP counsel when needed.
Data Privacy and Protection: Maintain robust data protection policies aligned with applicable federal and state regulations (e.g., CCPA, HIPAA), and other relevant regulations (e.g. GDPR), ensuring the confidentiality and security of health, performance and other data of sports fans, athletes and telehealth customers.
Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate legal, reputational, and operational risk across the organization.
Tax structuring and compliance: Structure and implement group operations efficiently and compliantly.
Insurance: Arrange insurance cover for D&O, sports events, general liability and clinical trial; negotiate policy terms.
Ethics & Governance: Maintain corporate compliance and governance standards that support a strong culture of integrity and accountability.
Contracts & Negotiation: Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of critical agreements.
Team Development: Build, lead, and mentor a best‑in‑class legal team as the company scales.

ABOUT YOU

J.D. from an accredited US law school, active bar membership in any US state, and 10+ years of progressively responsible relevant legal experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership position.
Experience working in highly regulated industries (including e.g., sports, media, medical, biotech, pharmaceuticals, telehealth).
Startup experience is a big plus.
Strong understanding of sports/media, life sciences/clinical trials/medical regulations, telehealth, IP, data protection (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA etc.), corporate governance, venture capital, equity capital markets, tax structuring and compliance, insurance, employment, anti-trust/competition, litigation.
A collaborative, solutions‑oriented mindset with the ability to balance risk and reward in a fast‑paced, global, and disruptive environment.
Exceptional communication and negotiation skills — adept at translating complex legal and compliance concepts into actionable advice for stakeholders across the organization.

MUST-HAVE REQUIREMENTS
Must be willing and able to work from Enhanced’s New York office five days a week.
