Opportunity

We are currently seeking a Database Architect. This is a great opportunity for an individual that wants to be a part of our development vision while also staying involved in coding/programming. Experience

    • 5+ years of experience with Database Administration and implementation
    • Strong understanding of relational database and Data warehousing concepts
    • Strong understanding and experience in database indexing, optimizer, query and memory tuning and effective partitioning
    • Experiences with different database solutions, Oracle, MS SQL, PostgresHands on experience in performance optimizations, understanding explain plans, redo logs/checkpoint tuning, ability to work with global teams and help advice and code database performance enhancements
    • Proven experience designing and developing database schemas, architectures and models
    • Experience in Healthcare a plus

Preferred Qualifications

    • At least 3 years writing complex SQL statements
    • At least 3 years of application architecture, network management, and performance management work experience
    • At least 3 years of data management, data-oriented programming, and development work experience
    • At least 1 year of experience working in healthcare
    • At least 1 year of experience documenting technical specifications
    • At least 1 year of visualization and reporting tools (such as Tableau and Business Objects) work experience
    • At least 1 year of relational and MPP database work experience
    • At least 1 year of cloud-based setting work experience
    • At least 1 year establishing client relationships and document client needs work experience

Education

    • BS or MS Engineering degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Software

Responsibilites

    • Provide architectural and hands on technical guidance to highly skilled data modelers, ETL, and BI developers
    • Develop design standards and guidelines, and mentor other architects and engineers on database best practices and performance tuning
    • Design, model, and lead the building of a secure healthcare/life science focused transactional systems, operational data, warehouse, and downstream marts, with privacy controls
    • Enhance and modernize platform for healthcare and associated applications
    • Design, code, automate, test, support and optimize new and existing databases (hands on)Collaborate closely with development architects, product experts and business owners to build new applications and features
    • Collaborate with developers and IT administrators to evangelize, coordinate, and implement architectural and operational best practices
    • Define strategy and best practices for database development and architectureWork with engineering and data science in the development of high value clinically solutions
    • Determines database structural requirements by analyzing client operations, applications, and programming; reviewing objectives with clients; evaluating current systems
    • Develops database solutions by designing proposed systems, defining database physical structure and functional capabilities, security, back-up, and recovery specifications
    • Installs database systems by developing flowcharts; applying optimum access techniques; coordinating installation actions; documents actions
    • Maintains database performance by identifying and resolving production and application development problems; calculating optimum values for parameters; evaluating, integrating, and installing new releases; completing maintenance; answering user questions
    • Prepares users by conducting training
    • Provides database support by coding utilities, responding to user questions, and resolving problems
    • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations
    • Accomplishes information systems and organization mission by completing related results as needed
