Entrata is on a mission to simplify the rental experience through powerful software, and our Payments platform plays a critical role in that vision. We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Lehi-based team and help scale our payments infrastructure to support millions of daily transactions with speed, reliability, and trust.
This role is ideal for backend-leaning engineers who take ownership, thrive in fast-paced environments, and are passionate about building secure and scalable systems. You’ll collaborate closely with product, UX, and offshore engineering teams to deliver impactful features across areas like ACH/card processing, fraud prevention, and financial compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Architect, design, and implement performant, scalable backend services using PHP, SQL, and modern frameworks
- Lead code reviews and advocate for best practices in performance, security, and reliability
- Mentor junior developers and drive technical excellence across the team
- Collaborate with Product Managers, UX designers, and offshore contributors to solve complex challenges and deliver high-impact features
- Ensure code quality and architecture meet both business needs and long-term scalability
- Balance speed of delivery with maintainability and technical debt mitigation
- Champion modern tools and methodologies to improve team productivity and code quality
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
- 5-10 years of backend development experience in PHP and SQL
- Demonstrable experience leveraging AI-powered development tools (e.g., Cursor AI, GitHub Copilot, Tabnine) for enhanced code generation, refactoring, debugging assistance, and overall development efficiency
- Expertise in performance optimization, debugging, and unit testing
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with ACH Payments or credit card payment systems
- Hands-on experience with AWS and cloud infrastructure
- Familiarity with agile development methodologies and modern DevOps practices
$119,000 - $188,000 a year
This band covers the full salary range for the role. Your offer within this range will depend on factors like experience, skills, and internal equity.
