Purpose of Job
The Manager, Internal Events will oversee virtual and in-person employee-focused event campaigns for the entire organization, including corporate, departmental and social events. They will be responsible for the delivery of quality project management and event logistics oversight, while being accountable on all related budget expenses impacting the events and campaigns. This role builds employee engagement and drives a sense of belonging, inclusiveness, and pride in the bank. The Manager, Internal Events works closely with internal departments to execute information-focused and team building events, both in-person and in a virtual setting. In addition to leading the coordination and execution of major company-wide social events, this role also works with our IDEA2 team and Employee Resource Groups to plan and execute events that celebrate and bring people together.
The Work
- The incumbent will take the lead on planning and executing all requests that come from internal departments across the country, including but not limited to virtual and in-person events, fundraising initiatives, internal merchandise requests, information/education sessions, and more.
- This role’s main activities include:
- Works with HR, Diversity & Inclusion, Facilities, and the Management team to create and support all internal events with a view to creating an inclusive and collaborative experience for all participants.
- Responsible for idea generation, keeping in mind regional/departmental differences and preferences and building a cross-country network of support to help execute.
- Oversees and works with External Events team members on maintaining the national events calendar.
- Takes the lead on managing all summer student hires, volunteers, and co-op students. They will delegate event management components amongst the Events team as deemed necessary for the support to ensure the event for the business units is successful.
- Provides leadership and assigns work to the Event Coordinator as a direct report.
- Handles all negotiations on event spaces, catering, implementation, vendor management, AV, etc., for internal events.
- Coordinates photography shoots, scheduling, and onsite coordination
- Manage events, from start to finish, ensuring a memorable and inclusive experience for all employees involved, including post-event follow-up.
- Attends internal events to ensure their success by liaising with venue personnel, vendors and suppliers to resolve issues that arise.
- Partner and work with staff, participants, venue, vendors, and suppliers before and after the event.
Let's Talk About You!
- 5-10 years of experience in event planning for corporate events, with a focus on employee/internal events
- A degree/diploma in Special Events planning would be an asset
- Must have event planning/execution experience.
- Must have strong digital/virtual event management experience.
- Strong knowledge of virtual event management software, including Microsoft Teams, Zoom, or similar
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
- Experience with execution and assessment of event plans, tactics and programming.
- Ability to understand and work within the means of a tight budget
- Ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional communication, diplomacy and organizational skills.
- Must be a team player and be adaptable to change where flexibility is required with the attitude of completing the event using available resources.
- Have the ability to make presentations to internal clients, senior management and all stakeholders when requested.
- Experience within a financial institution or the mortgage industry is an asset, but not required

The incumbent will be working hybrid and in office time will be spent working from Equitable Bank’s additional office space located at 351 King Street East, Toronto, ON.
