The Work
The ServiceNow Developer will be a part of Equitable Bank’s ServiceNow Centre of Excellence. Primary responsibilities include designing, developing, and supporting ServiceNow applications, workflows, catalog items, and integrations.
As a ServiceNow Developer, you will contribute to the Bank’s ServiceNow instance using industry-standard practices and procedures while safeguarding the integrity and hygiene of the ServiceNow instance. You will be responsible for production support, development, testing, and documentation of the solutions you build. Reporting to the Manager, ServiceNow Centre of Excellence, the developer will ensure that all reported service requests/changes/incidents/problems are triaged and addressed in a timely manner through to resolution. The ServiceNow Developer will also be responsible to ensure the business units are kept informed on the status of the issues reported and work with them to establish interim solutions until the reported issue is fully resolved. The development of working relationships with ServiceNow implementation partners, as well as Business stakeholders is an integral part of this role.
The Core Responsibilities!
- ServiceNow Development: Design, develop, and implement ServiceNow applications, modules, and integrations using best practices and industry standards.
- Customization and Configuration: Customize and configure ServiceNow modules and workflows to meet specific business requirements and improve overall system functionality.
- Application Design: Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and analyze business needs and translate them into functional requirements and technical specifications for ServiceNow applications.
- Integration Development: Develop and maintain integrations between ServiceNow and other external systems, applications, and databases, ensuring seamless data flow and system interoperability.
- Automation and Scripting: Utilize scripting languages such as JavaScript and ServiceNow-specific scripting tools to automate tasks, create business rules, and enhance system functionalities.
- Technical Support: Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to users, addressing issues related to ServiceNow applications, configurations, and integrations.
- Testing and Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough testing and debugging of ServiceNow applications to ensure accuracy, performance, and reliability, identifying and resolving any defects or issues.
- Documentation: Create detailed technical documentation, including system designs, configuration guides, and user manuals, to facilitate effective system maintenance, support, and knowledge transfer.
- Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including implementation partners, business analysts, system administrators, project managers, and the Manager, ServiceNow Centre of Excellence to ensure successful project delivery and timely resolution of issues.
- Teamwork: Participate in group and peer code review sessions for quality assurance and adherence to standardized practices.
- Release Management: Support application rollout and upgrade projects by working with our internal teams as well as vendors. Prioritize tasks and provide status updates. This may involve non-business hour work.
- Attend requirement gathering sessions with business units to clarify the required behaviour, and the risks and impacts to the Bank.
- Support the Manager, ServiceNow Centre of Excellence with status report generation and backlog prioritization.
Let's Talk About You!
- Education: bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience as a ServiceNow Developer or a similar role, working with ServiceNow platform and related technologies.
- ServiceNow Expertise: In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with ServiceNow platform, modules, and development tools, including ServiceNow application development tools, workflows, UI policies, business rules, and client scripts.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in JavaScript, HTML, CSS, and other web technologies. Experience with REST and SOAP web services, XML, JSON, and database concepts.
- ServiceNow Certifications: Preferred certifications include Certified Application Developer (CAD), Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS), or other relevant ServiceNow certifications.
- Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to understand complex business requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, contributing to a positive and supportive work culture.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work with a focus on accuracy and precision.
- Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and project requirements, demonstrating a proactive and results-oriented approach.

The incumbent will be working hybrid and in office time will be spent working from Equitable Bank’s additional office space located at 2200-25 Ontario Street, Toronto, ON.
