Purpose of the Job:

The Senior Manager, Internal Audit Analytics will be responsible for developing a data mining and analytics capability within Internal Audit to support ongoing monitoring of the Bank’s key product portfolios, and to facilitate a “continuous auditing” model. The incumbent will use his or her analytical abilities to provide both qualitative and quantitative input supporting the development of an analytics capability within the department. The incumbent will also assist the Director IT Audit with the completion of Technology-related internal audit testing as assigned

Main Activities and responsibilities:

Develop & implement data mining and analysis techniques (60%)
· Through use of data analytics tools (such as Power BI) develop data mining/reporting capabilities across a variety of data sources, in order to allow for continuous monitoring of the Bank’s product portfolios and increased depth analysis of select information points as required. The business requirements will be provided by the Chief Auditor and other members of the Internal Audit team as appropriate. The incumbent may also initiate business requirements, dependent on background experience.
· Keep abreast of all relevant data sources across the Bank, including changes and updates.
· Initiate automation of other audit documents/processes as directed by the Chief Auditor.

Assist with execution of IT Audits (20%)
Assist the Director IT Internal Audit by completing technology audit tests as assigned. This includes:
· Analyzing evidence to support each control tested.
· Testing procedures and results to be documented and evidenced according to Equitable’s Internal Audit methodology.
· Escalation of potential issues to the Director IT Audit/Chief Auditor as they arise throughout audit testing.

Risk Assessment- (10%)
· Maintains an awareness of the Bank’s technology data management sources and any changes. Employs techniques to ensure accuracy of all data mining results/reports.
· When testing controls as part of audits, the position will be required to take into consideration the size and complexity of the Bank’s operations in assessing results and potential control issues.

Relationship Management & Engagement- (10%)

· Maintain positive working relationships with the members of the Internal Audit team and management of Information Technology units/Risk Management control functions to ensure effective communication flow throughout the data analysis and audit testing process.
· Keep the Chief Auditor informed of the status of key risks or findings identified during audit work and/or data analysis.
· Commit to ongoing professional development by completing training applicable to the role on an annual basis.
· Share Data Analysis knowledge with other members of the Internal Audit team in order to facilitate cross-training.

Knowledge / Skill requirements

    • 8+ years’ work experience in Analytics or Data Science roles, within a Financial Services environment.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent. Graduate degree is a plus.
    • Subject Matter expert at building, modifying, and running analytical queries and reports (and able to teach others).
    • Expert in data analysis techniques.
    • Experience synthesizing analyses.
    • Strong attention to detail and time management skills
    • Knowledge of ITIL and NIST control frameworks is an asset.
    • Previous experience within an Internal Audit technology role is an asset.
    • Proven excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to communicate with both a technical and non-technical audience.
    • Ability to work independently and perform under pressure and within tight time constraints.
    • Continues to develop/maintain broad knowledge and awareness of data analysis techniques and technology risk management/control practices applicable to the Bank.

The incumbent will be working hybrid and in office time will be spent working from Equitable Bank’s additional office space located at 351 King Street East, Toronto, ON.
