Satellite AIT Engineer

Saratoga, CA
E-Space US – Engineering, Manufacturing & Operations /
On-site
Ready to make connectivity from space universally accessible, secure and actionable? Then you’ve come to the right place!

E-Space is bridging Earth and space to enable hyper-scaled deployments of space-powered Internet of Things (IoT) solutions and services. We are fundamentally changing the design, economics, manufacturing, coverage limitations and service delivery associated with traditional satellite and terrestrial IoT systems.

By building a highly-advanced low Earth orbit (LEO) space system—with a unique antenna design, highly sustainable spacecraft system and low-cost, small portable end-user devices—we can extend global satellite coverage, capacity and connectivity beyond legacy space services to provide a new kind of IoT platform that lets users sense, track, connect and act on information gathered, anywhere.

We’re intentional, we’re unapologetically curious and we’re 100% committed to saving space, protecting our planet and turning connectivity into actionable intelligence.

What is the role:

As a Satellite AIT Engineer, you will participate in all phases of the E-Space satellite testing program, from satellite sub-system validation to system integration phases, as well as technical support for satellite environmental testing. You will be in charge of building necessary HW and SW infrastructure (Ground Support Equipment - GSE) for the testing activities, preparing and executing test procedures and reporting anomalies to the System Engineering team.

You will work collaboratively with engineers of various satellite sub-systems to understand their testing needs and integrate test benches accordingly.  As an engineer on the E-Space AIT team you will have the opportunity to test thousands of flight hardware units and directly contribute to the success of innovative satellites.

This role is based in Saratoga, CA.

What you will do:

    • Develop and integrate GSE for sub-system validation (sub-system test bench)
    • PCBA and harness review before unit integration into the sub-system test benches
    • Ensure that the sub-system validation process is covered by satellite TMTC database
    • Elaborate validation test procedures with sub-system teams, and executing them
    • Track anomalies detected during the execution of the test procedures
    • Support flatsat testing activities: GSE, test procedures, anomaly reporting, and satellite TMTC database
    • Contribute to satellite environmental tests
    • Work with flight hardware designers on design-for-test strategies
    • Contribute to the development of engineering best practices to support most efficient testing

What you bring to this role:

    • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering
    • 5+ years of experience in space engineering, incl. electronics test engineering or hardware development, harness manufacturing
    • Understanding of electrical test equipment, test procedures, data acquisition systems and instrumentation
    • Experience in environmental testing such as vibration, shock, thermal and TVAC
    • Demonstrated success working in a dynamic environment

Bonus points:

    • Proficiency with Altium Designer for schematic capture and PCB layout
    • Understanding of designing electronic hardware from concept through production
    • Experience with radiation effects testing
