Why this role is important:

    • As a Staff Mechatronics Engineer, you will focus on the application of industrial automation to drive an assembly line of satellite hardware. This is a hands-on position, and you will engage with E-Space mechanical, electrical, RF, and material engineers to procure, design, validate, test, and operate an automated production system to create a uniquely designed, fully assembled product package.  
    •  This position will report to the Head of Manufacturing Engineering will be based in Saratoga, CA. 

What you'll be doing:

    • Conduct trade studies, establishes hardware requirements, designs mechanical components using CAD tools, and initiate procurement of automated manufacturing process equipment
    • Manage characterization, qualification, and acceptance testing of in-house material and machine prototyping
    • Collaborate cross-functionally with other subsystem engineers, providing DfX expertise to all product design teams
    • Support digital manufacturing initiatives by simulating production equipment digital twin's and IIoT device integrations
    • Create process documentation and lead operator training of manufacturing equipment
    • Develop plant transformation plans for brownfield and greenfield sites
    • Apply project management skills (schedule, cost, communications) and coordination of internal and external resources to execute projects in a timely and cost-effective manner

What you bring to this role:

    • You have a Bachelor’s/Master's/PhD of Science in Industrial, Mechanical, Robotics Engineering or equivalent, plus 5-10 years' experience in relevant fields 
    • You have a solid understanding of PLC ladder logic programming, machine G-code, or other machine control software languages such as Codesys 
    • You have demonstrated success working in a fast-paced, multi-disciplinary, small-team environment and ability to manage competing priorities 
    • You're excited to adopt new manufacturing technologies, actively seeking the latest machine design trends, and can demonstrateacreative design process 
    • You can demonstrate a functional knowledge of low voltage controls, vision systems. electronic sensors, pneumatics, hydraulics and robotics 
    • You have the ability to travel internationally up to 25% of your time 

Extra Bonus points for the following:

    • You’ve previously worked with polymer film materials, printed electronics, or complex conveyor systems 
    • You have a passion in origami 
$50,000 - $200,000 a year
The estimated range is meant to reflect an anticipated salary range for the position in question, which is based on market data and other factors, all of which are subject to change. Individual pay is based on location, skills and expertise, depth of relevant experience, and other relevant factors.
