We are seeking a versatile Laboratory Technician to serve as the primary technical resource for our engineering and development facility. This role combines materials processing, mechanical hardware development, testing operations, and facility management. The successful candidate will work independently across multiple engineering disciplines while supporting product development projects.

What you'll be doing:

    • Materials & Testing 
    • Process advanced materials using thermal processing, compression molding, and manufacturing techniques 
    • Conduct mechanical, thermal, and structural testing 
    • Prepare test specimens and document results for engineering analysis 

    • Mechanical Hardware Development 
    • Fabricate, assemble, and test mechanical components and systems as well as machinery 
    • Build prototypes and test fixtures for hardware evaluation 
    • Support spacecraft mechanisms and structural component development 
    • Perform precision assembly and troubleshoot mechanical systems 

    • Equipment & Facility Management 
    • Design and build custom testing equipment, fixtures, and tooling 
    • Maintain and calibrate hydraulic presses, thermal processing equipment, and testing systems 
    • Manage inventory, procurement, and vendor coordination 
    • Maintain laboratory cleanliness, organization, and housekeeping standards 

What you will bring to this role:

    • Technical Skills 
    • Proficiency with hydraulic presses, thermal processing, and mechanical testing equipment 
    • Strong machining and fabrication skills (manual machining, drilling, assembly) 
    • Understanding of electrical systems and wiring 
    • Ability to read engineering drawings and work instructions 
    • Knowledge of testing equipment for polymers, mechanical testing and structural testing. 
    • Computer proficiency including CAD programs and data collection software 

Essential Skills:

    • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills 
    • Excellent attention to detail and precision 
    • Ability to manage multiple projects independently in fast-paced, rapidly changing environment 
    • Creative problem-solving skills and resourcefulness when working with limited resources 
    • Good communication skills for working with engineering teams 
    • Physical capability to handle heavy equipment and assemblies 
    • Associate degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Manufacturing, or related field 
    • 5-10years experience in materials testing, mechanical systems, or engineering support 
    • Experience working independently with minimal supervision 
$80,000 - $110,000 a year

 
This role is ideal for an engineer who gets excited about impossible parts and has the skills to build whatever it takes to make them work at production volumes.
